    2. Descendants of John De Vere Generation No. 1 1. JOHN1 DE VERE was born Abt. 1824, and died 1863 in Dundaff, New York. He married CATHERINE C. HUNT Abt. 1848 in New York State. She was born March 27, 1826 in Ellenville, New York, died March 10, 1916 in Port Jervis, New York. Notes for JOHN DE VERE: Absolutely NO sign of a John Devere, Vere, Vandervear, any soundexed spelling, 1850, 1860--in NY or PA. Tried Durr, Dier, Duryea, anything close, either in spelling or locale. No sign of a Catherine DeVere, any spelling, 1850 thru 188o--when she should show up as a widow, in 1870, at least. No Deveres in PA, other than a Rachel--1860. Statewide. Louisa/L./ L.A., Laura, was abt 6 in 1860, and 16 in 1870, she does not show in anyone's household, under any spelling, in either NY or PA. Very odd she would miss the census all the time. Even tried Jackson--thinking she'd accidentally been listed under Andrew Jackson, the said to be other husband of Catherine (Hunt) Devere. Child of JOHN DE VERE and CATHERINE HUNT is: 2. i.
