Hello, Can anyone tell me about Baptist churches in Wayne County? According to an account at p. 715 in the book "Wayne, Pike and Monroe Counties, Pennsylvania" by Alfred Mathews (Philadelphia : R. T. Peck, 1886) Archabald Lamont and his wife Nancy were Baptists: "The Preston Centre Baptist Church was an offshoot from the church in Scott township. In 1858, however, the finally decided to form a "district church," and a council form the neighboring churches of the Abington and Bridgewater Associations was convened at Preston Centre, on the 14th of April of that year, to give them fellowship as a gospel church. ... The constituent members who were then recognized were [here the books lists twenty names, including Archibald Lamont and Nancy Lamont]." I would like to start a hunt for the church records for this church. Can a local tell me if it is still in existence, and where I might find records? Thank you for your time. Donna Lewis
