My big Native list put to work on the prayers. Most onthislist are not aware, but, my 3 "triplets" are adopted. legally, under the Indian chld Welfare Act. (ICWA). they were all abandoned. My apache was a 6 1/2 mo preemie, 4 lbs,not expected to live. the other two are siblings. they are all graduating onschedule the end of this month. Ben was hearing impaired-lousy pediatrician---but, 3 surgeries, etc., and he is within normal range of hearing. he is LD/dylslexic. A jock, MVP, popular, very social--my activist. matt had Post Traumatic stress with abandonemnt issues. He has an I.Q. in the 140 range, --has developed into a tease. He's lettered 4 yrs in 3 sports. Sarah--elegant, self contained--a talented dancer--holds 2 small titles---and is adored by the family she works for--caring for their 3 children. all 3 are college bound. Accepted and getting ready. Sarah is going to one of the finest Women's colleges in the east. we have been "on our own" for 12 years, the man who signed for their adoption, to be their Dad, and was married to me--took a walk in 1988-- quit supporting us, hasn't seen them in years. Everyone says what great/nice/sweet/well mannered/responsible--etc. kids. In spite of prejudice--they "look" Indian-- and all the "can'ts, shouldn'ts, and so forth. Your daughter has a special place in our hearts. bless her for taking "one of our own". quite frankly, I have little time for folks who spend thousands of dollars overseas, in preference to taking our own children. or the Rosie O'donnells who spend a fortune getting Ivory soap babies---while those who deserve babies---wait so long they age out. another soap box,a nother day.
