According to the Pennsylvania Manual, Northampton was formed in 1752 from part of Bucks county Northumberland was formed 1772 from parts of Bedford, Berks, Cumberland, Lancaster & Northampton counties Luzerne was formed 1786 from parts of Northumberland Wayne was formed 1798 from parts of Northampton Susquehanna was formed 1810 from parts of Luzerne and in case you were curious about the rest of NEPA, Pike was formed 1814 from Wayne Monroe was formed 1836 from parts of Northampton & Pike Wyoming was formed 1842 from Luzerne Carbon was formed 1843 from parts of Monroe & Northampton Lackawanna, the last of the counties, was formed 1878 from Luzerne Excerpts from the most recent Pennsylvania Manual, which is put out by the Department of General Services, are available online at http://www.dgs.state.pa.us/pamanual/site/default.asp but the county history section does not appear to be part of what is available Alaine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.NEPAgenealogy.com > > I didn't think that Susquehanna was ever part of Luzerne, perhaps > Northampton, but not Luzerne.
