Hi Ann, Could I make a suggestion? Could you scan these pages and send them to the PAWAYNE web site? That way it would be available to all and we could do our own searches. Just a thought. Thanks!! Elaine Searching for Bartlow

Carol, Sorry, none of them. I think Sherman was too far north for that group. Ann & others, Sure wish this kind of documentation on joining/leaving the church was available for Lakeville, Wayne County congregations! trying to track people from who-knows-where previously... Holly
Hi Ann, What a great find!! It is so nice of you to donate the listing to the Historical Society and to volunteer to do lookups. Have you already checked the list for any of our related Potters, Conklins, Tylers, Lesters, Middaughs, or Bouchers? Carol Potter Meadows
Ann, Would you please search this document for the surname Lamont? I would be most grateful. I have purchased on EBay for donation to the Wayne County Historical Society a transcription of the membership list of the Maple Hill Baptist Church, which was located in Sherman, Scott Township. The source of the transcription is the DAR Cemetery, Church and Bible Records. Unfortunately, because the founding members of the church were all from Deposit, NY, the list was filed in the New York State series and would not turn up on a Wayne County search. Because Sherman and Deposit are so close geographically, I see many names common to one or both areas. The list gives the name, date the person joined the church and date of "dismissal" and in most cases reason for leaving (death, move or excommunication, etc.). The church was founded in 1851 and the latest date I find is 1895. Although the list is chronological not alphabetical, it is only four pages long, and if you think your ancestor may have been a member of this church, I can do a lookup in the next few days. Remember that Sherman was once known as New Baltimore and that Scott Township is in the extreme northern portion of Wayne County, so it's unlikely that anyone from Equinunk, Honesdale or points south would be represented. Heritage Quest has stopped subscriptions, except for Libraries. If you go to following link, and look for information on sponser subscription, it will show you can pay 35.00 a year as a sponser and they have heritage quest, plus a lot of newspapers and books that you can access from your home with a library card they give you. Yes, it's available from several libraries that I've heard of and through membership in the NY Genealogical & Biographical Society. All that's required for online access is a membership in the sponsoring organization. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn Bess" <bess@penn.com> To: <PAWAYNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2004 4:57 PM Subject: Re: [PAWAYNE] Free Census > Heritage Quest is relatively inexpensive about 35 a year for census, books > and periodicals. Please do not go to this link. It will make the library's server crash, and they will have to delete Heritage. I have seen this happen to other librarys. It overburdens the server. Wadene
