Sandra, are Ken and Kay Graves related to Edwin Graves, b. 1804-died 1846, who was a physician in Bethany and Honesdale? His sister, Harriet, was my gtgtgrandmother. If you get in touch with them please ask them to contact me--teddy@gorge.net. Thank you! Sorry to send this to the list, but I corresponded with Ken and Kay Graves last year and have lost their email address. If Ken or Kay sees this--would you please write to me? I have a quick question. I'm related to Selonay Tobey Simons (Simonds) Thanks Sandra
Sandra, I checked at the Wayne County Historical Society. there are two David Sanders in the Clinton Centre Cemetery - one died in 1871, the other in 1879.. I didn't find a Maria, but there were two stones for "wife of David": Mehetable, died 1837 and Patience, died 1872. Al, thanks for the kind words. I am glad that you found something helpful on the site. I do not currently have anything on the Barna family if nothing came up on the Pico search of the site. Keep checking back. It brought me to a picture of the Frisbie class of 1938 and it turns out that my dad and his brother John were in the picture. It was so cool to find this. My dad just passed away in October 03. I wish he was still around to see this picture. He would have gotten a big kick out of it. I am going to print it and give my mom a copy of it for Mothers day. Do you by chance have any pictures of the Barna family? That is my mom's madden name and they were raised in the area, as well. Or how about Heart Lake. At least that is what I think it was called. There was a place on Heart Lake that the young people would go to for a dance on Friday and Saturday night. My mom and dad met there. Carol, Someone gave me a whole downline to Samatha Young daughter of George Young and Elinor McKinny... For some reason (sloppiness) I dont have it sourced.. other than the 1850 census. And I have family listed clear into 1978, so I know someone has sent this too me. Was it from you? If not, I am looking to source this family line from who gave it to me, are you out there? Iris
This seems to be a case of "no good deed goes unpunished." being slightly older than dirt, having learned to do genealogy ( I started abt age 7 or 9) in the days when there were NO forms, no classes almost anywhere, hardly any census available, no indexes to speak of--few county records inprint--- it was an entirely different world. Not everyone knows where their ancestors, or their kin, landed, ended up. anything at all that may help is a definite "upper". anyone who has done genealogy for long knows it is lengthy, frustrating, worse than rocket science---at least those folks get a federal grant,/ funding--- high salaries, a diagram to follow. anything anyone wants to take time to share, put out there---if it helps one person---it is a success. Too many now a days want it all handed to them, on a platter, labeled and documented. I used to think folks in genealogy were the kindest, dearest, neatest--and usually "family"---out there. they still are, but we have been "infiltrated" --siiiiigh. I've had my work stolen, changed, ridiculed, sloughed off (seeing some don't want anything but what THEY envision for themselves) copied without credit, you name it,. and for all that, I still get the neatest finds, sharings, folks sending me things---you'd ever imagine. And I do so much gratis, because I can, know how, and the mystery is always there---who, how, where, and with whom!! I really try to share whatever I'm working on that may help someone. No one can do it alone. For all of you who work so hard on this list, or any list, in the areas of research--and try to get it up and out - Pay no attention to the nay sayers. You are worth your weight in gold. My sincere thanks, form down in NC--- Sheila // Firehair
Thanks so much for ding this---know it is lengthy, hard on the eyes. I'm sure everyone appreicates it---your check, gifts, and all expenses paid vacation---- in the mail. <G> Thank you again. Sheila // Firehair

Hello, Please don't take your index down (though I see you have already). Most newspapers only keep free access to their content available for a short while. After that, one must pay. I should have added that some but not all of the obits at WCHS are indexed. If you have a date of death, of course, it's easy to find the obit in the paper. They have most of the very early papers with some gaps, the Herald, the Citizen, the Independent, the Almanac and the Hancock Herald. Ann
Didn't read the will, but Letters of Administration were granted when there was no will and an administrator appointed, usually a family member. The administrator was required to post a bond and settled up the estate. It appears he/she was like an executor/rix.
