Holly, Marge had been in ill health for some time. Her son Jeff is an attorney here in Honesdale. I don't know if she had any other children. I don't know how far back the Independent keeps its obits posted, but WCHS has the papers on microfilm if they're not online. Listers, From Norm and Elaine's recent post regarding burials in Wayne County, I noticed that Marjorie Treat had passed away last December. I hadn't known, and had emailed her a few times this winter and spring. Though we had not met in person, I know she had remarkable devotion to Lakeville Cemetery, and had cared to collect obituaries and family information for every headstone in that cemetery. She was interested in sharing all she had found with family members. If anyone knows the circumstances of her death, and any living relatives or children, please let me know. She will be missed. There is no mention of a Kimble Glass Co. or of James or Levi Kimble in "The Glass Industry of Wayne County, Pennsylvania." Since this book is an exhaustive study of the subject, I'm confident that there is no connection. Aside from the very early Bethany Glass Co., the industry pretty much confined itself to the Honesdale-White Mills-Hawley area. I want to thank Iris, Ann and Jean for the information they sent me about doing research in Wayne County, PA. All of the information is so helpful when you are going to a strange place! Thanks again. Judy Shaw
Hi Gwen, Thanks for all the great information on the Kimbles. It sure seems like it is a possibility as there were many glassmakers in Wayne and Pike, PA - including my Olsommers and my great-great grandparents - John N. Walter and Catherine Olsommer Walter. I'll have to do some more research on this - could be interesting. My John N. Walter owned a glass factory in Kings Co., NY (Brooklyn) before going to Wayne Co. and I know that they were all associated with Dorflinger in Wayne Co. Dorflinger is from Rosteig, France and were witnesses on a lot of these families records. Anyway, will let you know what I find....and thanks again for answering. Janet Nichols

Gwen. Although their were Ware of 1812 veterans who moved to Wayne County, I don't know of any who actually served from the county. While it's worth exploring, I think it's a long shot. It's been my experience that most of the War of 1812 soldiers were from state militias, so the suggestion to check the PA archives is a good one. I'd be surprised, though, if you found anyone from Wayne County. Hi Janet: This is really good info and thanks so much for sending. I know we have the PA Archives at the Seattle Public Library and just as soon as they open up in their new building I will go downtown and see if I can find these volumes. I tried the PA Archives webpage, but did not find them there. Patty just sent this info and it is great for the Civil War and Rev. War. http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/ Click on the Digital Archives (ARIAS) link and it will take you to the different Wars. Click on Civil War and you will be able to pull up the enlistment cards for all PA soldiers. PHMC=Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission I know that the War of 1812 pension records that I have sent for have not been too good, but the bounty land applications are full of information. It has been so long ago, that I don't remember how I did it. Maybe someone on the list has had a more recent experience with the National Archives. They are also filmed by LDS and can be found on film 1027856 - Item 1. In addition, there is a book with the list of those who filed for a War of 1812 pension application. I don't remember the exact title, but any good genealogy library will have one. If you need a lookup, let me know and the next time I go into LAFHC, I will check this book. In order to get copies of the pension application and applied service record, you must write to the National Archives and pay $35. (The 1812 pension application I got was 3 pages for my $35 while my last Revolutionary file was 250 pages for $35.) The Pennsylvania Archives series is wonderful for early PA settlers. Many of the tax records are there as well as military records. It is worth doing an index search of each of the series with an index for early Pennsylvanians. Most of mine are there in one series or another. We are fortunate to have the entire series of published volumes in the Los Angeles Public Library and I am sure that other major libraries have them as well. If you are lucky enough to get to Harrisburg, they have a manuscript collection that adds even more to the published archives. Janet Thomas
