    3. I'm confident of Sutliff in Wayne County at least - have lots of census, obituaries, cemetery inscriptions, etc., all spelled that way. Killam/Kellam is, of course, another story. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Firehair3@aol.com> To: <PAWAYNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 07, 2004 10:43 AM Subject: [PAWAYNE] Brigham/ etc > In a message dated 7/7/04 8:28:39 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > SeeksFamily@aol.com writes: > > > > I don't have the exact date though. > > > > md 29 Aug 1824 according to Brigham family records. > > Have, in the other Brigham stuff, Sutliffe/stucliffe spellings. > > as often happens. > > We won't even go INTO > > Kellam / Killam / Kilham / Kellum / Callum/ Collum ad infinitum. > > > I have Hiram dying in IL, also. > > Sheila/Firehair > > > ==== PAWAYNE Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe to PAWAYNE mailing list (list mode) Address to: PAWAYNE-L-request@rootsweb.com > type UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message; nothing more. > For Digest mode: address to PAWAYNE-D-request@rootsweb.com > type UNSUBSCRIBE in the body of the message; nothing more. > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. 3. Carol, Thank you. These ARTHURS also show up in OregonTwp in 1860, then move to Dyberry in 1870 where my George D. ARTHUR shows up, and then Bethany in 1880. Parents James died 2 April 1887 and Ann HOSKIN died 19 October 1887. It looks like they had 11 children: Elizabeth, Mary, (both born in England),Susannah TOMS, James, Ruth, John H., Josephine, William H, ?Truelove, Lille THOMAS, George D., Leona BODIE, and Daniel I. I have found several cousins from these lines. Now looking for the link to Cornwall, England. 1. Re: [PAWAYNE] Brigham
    2. Ann O'Hara
    3. A few somewhat minor but significant corrections. 1. On the actual 1880 census, the relationship to head of household column is left blank for Elinor Brigham and says "Adopted" for Truman. Since Elinor was Elinor Kellam before her marriage, was Truman her son by a first marriage? Apparently not, since she is already married to George Brigham in 1870, before Truman was born. I can't find her in 1850 before her marriage. 2. Hiram Brigham's age is illegible (at least to me) except for the "1" in 1880, but in 1850, he is 20, in 1860 he is 40 and in 1870 he also says he is 40. He only ages one year in 30. Nice. It's clear that he was 30 in 1860 and 50 in 1880. However, just to confuse things, there is a George Brigham, age 30, living with Hiram and Mary Brigham in 1860 even though George is also living with Eliza and their children. 3. George's wife in 1860 is Eliza. Could Eliza and Elinor be one and the same? Eleanor E. is 42 in 1870; Eliza is 32 in 1860; and of course Elinor is 52 in 1880. 4. Florida, NY is in Orange County and was in 1799. 5. Mary Sutliff, not Sutcliff. 6. Mary Sutliff Brigham could not have died in 1824 and been the mother of ten children born after 1825. 6. In 1850 Hiram and Mary's children are: Joseph, 25 Mary, 23 George S., 20 Amy, 17 Caroline, 9 Truman, 7 Harriot, 5 Hiram, 4/12 It's possible that there was an earlier Hiram born in 1837 who died, and Webster probably died or had moved out (he was probably named Webster Sutliff Brigham for Mary's brother). There is no Luther, however. The only time the name appears is on 1860, a notoriously unreliable census in Wayne County, especially in Damascus Twp. By 1870 the 10-year-old is again Hiram. Sorry to be nitpicky, but like to clear up errors when I can.
