    1. KENNEDY descendants website
    2. I have just posted a website focusing on the 18th- and 19th-century descendants (through female as well as male lines) of David KENNEDY, Sr. (1748 CT - 1827 Mt. Pleasant, Wayne Co., PA), and his wife Eunice LESTER (1748 CT - 1826 Mt. Pleasant). In addition to information about over 150 KENNEDYS, the site contains data on over 40 KINGS, TOOKERS, PECKS, and LESTERS, over 30 CAREYS and TALLMANS, and over 20 WOODWARDS, STEVENSES, AND MUMFORDS. Other surnames with at least 10 occurrences are BIGELOW, BOYD, PARTRIDGE, CALLENDER, TOWER, BASS, LOVELL, O'NEILL, WINSTON and BONNER. Most information is documented (although usually from census data and from secondary sources). Please visit the site at <pa-kennedys.us>. Please email me if you have information or sources that contradict, amplify or provide additional support for the information on the site. Most of all, enjoy! :-) Paul Ramshaw Washington, DC <pramshaw@verizon.net>

    1. Re: [PAWAYNE] "The Citizen"
    2. Ann O'Hara
    3. Lee, The Citizen has had many incarnations. It's been the Wayne County Citizen, the Honesdale Citizen, several other names and is now the Wayne-Pike News Eagle in Hawley. The Wayne County Historical Society has it on microfilm up until the early 20th century and there are bound volumes at the Wayne County Courthouse. I'm not sure how far back the News Eagle's files go. However, if I'm not mistaken, at least some of Will Dix's articles were in the Independent, not the Citizen. He also wrote a short history of Shehawken in booklet form. Incidentally, the Wayne County Historical Society has complete microfilm copies of the Herald and of the Independent right up to the present date as well as many years of the Citizen. Also the Hancock Herald and many very early local papers. The Deposit Library has the Deposit Courier. All of these are great sources for Northern Wayne items. 2. Hi Dennis, Thank you for your comments regarding the censuses. I know what you mean...I have several ancestors named Francis(es) who show up as female in one census and male in another. In another census it appeared that the census taker had confused the sons and daughters and had them all completely opposite sexes. Carol

    3. Hi Carol I cant help you withyour research but I can tell you that the census records are sometimes very wrong . For instance in one record my grand father is listed as a female. In another my mother, Zena, was listed as Ruth. You can not take all the information you find as correct. 1. Gaston Family of Damascus Township
    2. Hi All, I hope someone can help me unravel this mystery. In my database I have an Ezra Gaston, son of John R. Gaston and Sarah T. Conklin (She married Edward S. Turner after the death of John R. Gaston in the Civil War.) In the 1900 Census for Damascus Township, his mother is shows as Sarah T. Gaston. I have assumed that the census taker made the assumption that her last name was Gaston instead of Turner. Or did she marry another Gaston after the death of Edward Turner? I don't have a death date for Edward Turner. In the 1910 Census there is a Jane E. Potter living in the household of Ezra Gaston. The relationship of Jane E. Potter to Ezra says mother. Now if in 1900 his mother was Sarah T. How could his mother also be Jane E. in 1910? Ezra's wife was Jennie Slater, whose parents from the 1880 census were Samuel and Mary (not Jane E., so the 1910 Census entry can't have been meant to be mother-in-law either). I hope there is a Gaston researcher or another Potter researcher who can help me unravel this mystery. Thanks in advance. Carol Potter Meadows

There were also lots of Lees in Preston and Scott Townships in 1850. Since Wayne/Starrucca Borough didn't yet exist, probably some of them were in the future borough then as well.
