    2. In a message dated 8/29/2000 9:30:48 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: << Anyone know what cemetery used to be referred to as "Old Paupack"? >> The Old Cemetery in Paupack is just down the hill from the newer marked cemetery on the same side of the road. Follow what looks like a driveway, past a house near the road and take the first right several hundred yards down the road and you will come to what I have heard called "The Old Paupack Cemetery," "Paupack Cemetery," or "The Bingham Cemetery" (apparently it is located on land that was once owned by the Bingham's who were early settlers of Paupack). Our old hand written family records refer to it as "The Old Cemetery on the Bingham Farm." I have lots of PELLETT, KIMBLE, BINGHAM, and other ancestors buried there. Each time I visit I seem to find someone else who is related. I haven't made it up there this year, but did get up there once or twice a year over the last few years. 2. Donna Lewis
    3. Hello, Can anyone tell me about Baptist churches in Wayne County? According to an account at p. 715 in the book "Wayne, Pike and Monroe Counties, Pennsylvania" by Alfred Mathews (Philadelphia : R. T. Peck, 1886) Archabald Lamont and his wife Nancy were Baptists: "The Preston Centre Baptist Church was an offshoot from the church in Scott township. A few of the members of the latter organization, living, as they did, away from the central place of meeting, had for some years prior to formal organization acted as a branch of the mother church, and enjoyed the ordinances of the Supper and Baptism at their place and pleasure. In 1858, however, the finally decided to form a "district church," and a council form the neighboring churches of the Abington and Bridgewater Associations was convened at Preston Centre, on the 14th of April of that year, to give them fellowship as a gospel church. ... The constituent members who were then recognized were [here the books lists twenty names, including Archibald Lamont and Nancy Lamont]." I would like to start a hunt for the church records for this church. Can a local tell me if it is still in existence, and where I might find records? Thank you for your time. Donna Lewis

Couldn't help but notice, while posting this cemetery, how many infants and young children died during the last quarter of the 19th century. Were these deaths specific to this area, and, if so, what was the cause? Thanks! 2. Vincent E. Summers
    3. Hi. I found out from a lookup in Boyd's Blue Book (I do not know the date of the book at the moment), that my AYRES great-grandparents had a summer residence in Wayne, PA. I do not know that that is this county. Is it separate from Wayne, PA a city or town with Lancaster Ave. running through it? If they are the same, and this is it, do any here have familiarity with the name AYRES? They were Henry Hiram and Elizabeth M. Hicks AYRES. Thanks, Vince Summers

    3. Hello all 1850 Manchester Twp Wayne Co I now know where "Firehair" found many of her Kellam ancestors. But there is at least one listed in the census she didn't tell me about :-( 1880 Gibson Twp Susquehanna Co I don't normally post partial transcriptions. But this is where my ancestors come from. And because the data for 1850 and 1910 is already posted it takes a bit longer as I check for cross connections. Which if your think I have wrong - please let me know. OTOH - if you can tell me about some that I have missed...... I have noticed that among the more common surnames - the same Christian names keep appearing. Is there a consensus on whether I should include the age along with the person's name in the index? Enjoy. Fred -- _-_|\ Frederick W. 3. Hello all Preston Township for Wayne County 1850 data This celebrates more than 20,000 entries for 1850 data on the site. Friendsville Township for Susquehanna County 1880 data. Only a couple of hundred entries but it is in a slightly revised format to other years. Comments welcome. There have been some "behind-the-scenes" changes. The URLs for complete census pages have been changed to remove the three letter township code. I am certain that some one will let me know if any problems are found with the site changes supporting that. MJ will find quite a few more TIFFANYs pulled from Stocker on the Personal Ancestry side of the site. Best wishes to all. Happy searching. Fred [email protected]

I am new to this site. I have been searching for my Moran family in Wayne CO. PA. My Great-grandfather Michael Moran m. Catherine McCormick some time prior to 1844. According to the Wayne, CO 1860 census Michael was 46 and Catherine was 40 and both born in Ireland. In 1860 they had six children: Mary Ann 16, Thomas 14, Elizabeth 10, (m Michael Rilley) Michael 6, James 4, and Christopher 1. My Grandfather Patrick Edward was born in 1866 and would be recorded on the PA 1870 census. Is it possible that someone in that area having access to the 1870 census, would do a lookup in an effort to locate Patrick Edward Moran. I would be most grateful for any help. 2. Lisa Carey Larchevesque
    3. The cemetery project has had so many submissions this week by a few people that visited Wayne and did entire cemeteries that I will be a bit behind updating and posting this week. Data entry will keep me busy. Additionally, I will take data in any format, but a few people have asked how I would prefer it. Here is a guideline that would allow me to simply cut and paste and not have to retype. Group names by cemetery. Microsoft word or Excell or just in the body of the email. Use 10 pitch, Arial font, regular, not italic, not bold, not all capitals font. Use Last name, first name, birth date, death date, any special notes. Basically, look at the format that is already on the site. Again, this info is being provided because I have had a few people ask, BUT, I WILL TAKE DATA IN ANY FORMAT, so please don't put off sending it if it does not fit the above criteria. Lastly, two services that were added to the Wayne site this weekend were: free name lookups for the 1970 PA census (on the census page) and name lookups for "The Emigrants to PA" by Tepper (front page of site). These services have been graciously offered by Elaine Russell. We will have close to 2000 names by next weekend when I catch up to all the bulk submissions sent to me in recent days. Thanks to the many that are helping with this project! 3. Hello all It has been very quiet lately... So I have decided to add a new township to the census data on my website.... Lisa - caretaker of the Wayne co site will find many of her ancestors there - CARY / SCULL to be certain. And for a change a couple of my ancestors MYERS and GREEN. http://www.dsdata.com.au/genealogy/nepa/census1850.html I have not forgotten the people who have suggested townships.... But I am going to add a couple of townships with my ancestors before I get back to those requests. And an update of the family lineage data is also in the works.... Now if I can figure out how to cross link the data from the cemetery data is now available for both Susuquehanna and Wayne County.... Comments and suggestions always welcome.
