We have hit 3959 names in the database for the Wayne Cemeteries! Keep those submissions coming. I have about 200 more in hard copy to input in the upcoming weeks. Thanks to those of you that are getting out there to help. The Pico Search on the Wayne Site is not working out for the purposes I need it. Does anyone have a "free" search engine that they would recommend for both the Wayne site and the Cemetery database page. I need two seperate ones. I am still working on facelifting the front page of the site, but back to work fulltime and kids back in sports, etc. I will get it done. Possible some of my ancestors emigrated from Ireland to Canada. Some stayed n Canada while others immigrated to Wayne County (Hawley, Mt. Pleasant, etc). In trying to back track is there a particular pattern that appears in the migration process from Ireland to Canada to PA. Interested in researching the Canadian aspect but not sure of where to begin. From what I have been able to gather appears my WALTON line came to Canada, some remained while others moved to Wayne Co. My great grandfather Robert WALTON (born in Ireland circa 1823) married Ann FEE (born circa 1823 in Canada) circa 1845. Robert WALTON and Ann FEE WALTON then settled in Scranton, PA. It seems many of the Irish who were not railroaders went from Hawley area to the Scranton area, and in some cases to New York State. Appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks Walt Walton J. Does anyone know if the Clinton Center cemetery has a record keeper, or a "who's buried" list... If so do you have an address? I have tombstone info on a Jonathan L. Lillie 1835-1895 buried in lot 128... however, I want to know whose in grave 127, (trying to figure who he is related too), I either failed to record that stone... or it isn't there..... Iris
Has anyone any information on the glass factory and its owner that was in the Texas Township area of Wayne County in the late 1800s? Would there be any info in a county history ? Thanks, Nancy
I have gotten some Buchanan & Carpenter submissions for the cemetery project from a cemetery in Preston Township. Submitter says the cemetery is on Wrighter Lake Road, near Stinnage Farm. Can anyone give me an educated guess at what the name of the cemetery may be? Greetings, This will be the last post that I will make for a long time, as I am drained from doing this project. On my site I have compiled the following information in my "All Things Section" of my site located at: http://www.geocities.com/geojenk Be patient as I have a lot of great stuff packed on the pages till I can tweak them for faster loading. Detailed History of McKeesport, Pa Genealogy and Biographies of Early McKeesporters (These are very detailed genealogical biographies on close to 400 individuals that immigrated to McKeesport from other countries/states.) Pictures and Biographies of Prominent Early McKeesporters (Part of above) Western Pennsylvania Family Group Genealogies (Genealogical Biographies on close to 400 family groups that lived in Western Pa. Includes families country of origin where applicable) Biographies of Service Men (WWI) (Men and women who served in WWI from the W. Pa. Area. Detailed info concerning their service record and also a lot of their pictures.) Pictures of Life in 1900s - Western Pa. (Close to 60 pictures showing how life was in W. Pa. during the beginning of the 1900s. There are some people on these pics that may be reconizable. Some immigrant group pics.) Please remember these sources of info are not related to my family research efforts. I have done this project with the intention of sharing the info. I get no financial gain from this effort as my site sells absolutely nothing. Good Luck!!! Have had requests for this, a couple neat submissions on early settling families. I think this will be a valuable addtion to the book, overall history. This is NOT a query section, so it does need to be a generational genealogy, making it possible to not only be placed in the historical scheme of things, but be of assistance to others who may be searching in this area. Currently I still own one hundred forty acres of land in two lots, the first consisting of fifty and the second of ninety acres. A lien exists on this property for a debt of four hundred twenty dollars, subject to interest, owed to Brother Goeb[?] in Bethlehem, which must be repaid at his request. Since I am now in my second marriage and brought into this marriage a daughter named Louise from my first marriage, and in my last marriage have left two sons and two daughters in addition to my wife, Christine née ... [Daste, Daisse, Daiste?], this is my last will: 1. My wife Christina shall become the owner of half of all the real estate, as long as she remains a widow. But if she should remarry, she shall own, from that time on, only one third. 2. My daughter Louise from my first marriage shall have the same right of inheritance as my four children from the second marriage. 3. My five children shall then become owners of the other half of my estate as well as the portion my wife must give back in the event that she remarries. My wife and five children shall also have the right to live in the existing house as long as they live, with the proviso that, as long as my wife remains a widow, she keep everything in good order and raise the children in the Christian faith. 4. My wife shall also receive half of all my personal property, but under the condition stated in point 1. My five children shall then receive the other half of my personal property. Searching for info on the following families: KELLEY - Searching for the family of Benjamin (Thomas) KELLEY b c 1772 NY (according to 1850 PA census) m Mary HOEL/HOLE early 1800's probably NY. Mary was a sister to the many HOEL's in Oregon Twp., Wayne Co. area 1850's. The family migrated to Wayne Co., PA by 1822 when a dau., Nancy, was born. (Another dau., E. Mahala, married into the BUCKINGHAM family of CT.) It is believed the family were very active Presbyterians. I have no info as to Ben's parentage. Family lore says the KELLEY's came from England on their own ship as they were shipbuilders. OLSOMMER - Denis b 1822 Alsace-Lorraine, FR d in Pike Co., PA m Barbara HILD b Alsace-Lorraine, FR - they married in Brooklyn, NY 1845, and had 7 children. Interested in contacting any OLSOMMER's in the area. TURNER - Searching for Isaac TURNER b 1788 Paris, FR d 1867 Wayne Co., PA. Isaac m Nancy KELLEY in 1848 after he stopped at her farm in Wayne Co., PA and worked for her. They had 8 children: Mathilda who was a post mistress for NayAug, PA; John Milton (may have been married to a DEPEW); Franklyn Varney (m Carolena MEYER); Mary Angeline; James Buchanan; Rosilla Correll m LOCKARD & HAUSER; Elma Martha DENISON & BIRD; and Elmer Marcus (last 2 were twins). Family lore says Isaac 'came from the Middle West' when he stopped at Nancy's farm and that he had been married twice before. Nothing is know of these marriages but he had children from them. In the 1850 Wayne Co., PA census a John TURNER is shown living next door to Isaac/Nancy. His children were: Maria, George and Milton - twins; Victoria and Virginia, and Henry. Since the name MILTON shows up in the children with Nancy plus twins in each family (this also carried into the next generation), I feel this John was an earlier son of Isaac.
