According to the description - there is at least one death notice, a will, an 1850 marriage certificate, letters from children, and a letter from the Dept of Public Schools in Wayne County, PA certifying the L.A. Freeman was principal at Rawley Grade School. Items apparently date from 1850 to 1903. 3. Both Horace and Mahala were the children of James and Polly Underwood Woodmansee. My ancestor Mary Jane Woodmansee was their sister. I don't have the children of Mahala, but the children of Horace and Mahala (not necessarily a complete list) were: Descendants of Horace Woodmansee Generation No. 1 1. Horace4 Woodmansee (James3, Gideon2, ?1) (Source: 1860 Federal Census, Buckingham Twp., Wayne Co., PA, Page 548.) was born 30 April 1832 in Pennsylvania (Source: (1) 1860 Census - Buckingham Twp., Wayne County, PA., (2) Eldad Geer, Pension Certificate #626330.), and died 12 July 1910. He married Mercy Williams (Source: WCHS Cemetery Book.). She was born 1836 in Pennsylvania (Source: (1) WCHS Cemetery Book., (2) 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA.), and died 1909 (Source: WCHS Cemetery Book.). Notes for Horace Woodmansee: Gravestone Inscription (copied 1989): Horace Woodmansee - 1832-1910. Notes for Mercy Williams: Gravestone Inscription (copied 1989): Mercy L. Woodmansee - his wife [Horace], 1836-1909. James Woodmansee's will names granddaughter Polly, daughter of Horace and "Mary" Woodmansee. Since Mercy Williams lived until 1909, I have simply added Polly to the list of Horace and Mercy's children and assumed that "Mercy" was read as "Mary" by the clerk who copied the will. Children of Horace Woodmansee and Mercy Williams are: 2 i. Polly5 Woodmansee (Source: (1) Will of James Woodmansee., (2) 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA., (3) 1860 Federal Census, Buckingham Twp., Wayne Co., PA, Page 548.), born Abt. 1855 in Pennsylvania (Source: 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA.); died Aft. 24 July 1866 (Source: Will of James Woodmansee.). Notes for Polly Woodmansee: Grandfather James Woodmansee left her a "good cow." 3 ii. Delphine Woodmansee (Source: (1) 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA., (2) 1860 Federal Census, Buckingham Twp., Wayne Co., PA, Page 548.), born Abt. 1857 in Pennsylvania (Source: 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA.). + 4 iii. Samuel Woodmansee, born Abt. 1863 in Pennsylvania. 5 iv. John Woodmansee (Source: 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA.), born Abt. 1867 in Pennsylvania (Source: 1870 Census - Preston Twp., Wayne County, PA.). Notes for John Woodmansee: Wayne Independent, March 31, 1905. STARRUCCA. A little daughter was born last week to Mr. and Mrs. John Woodmansee. Generation No. 2 4. 1. [PAWAYNE-L] Charles O'Neill
    2. HI, all. This is my first incursion into this list. My gr-gr-gandfather, Charles O'Neill, was born in Canada of Irish parents in c. 1838. He came to the USA in 1863, according to the census. He married Mary O'Neil, daughter of Bryan O'Neil, around 1868. My gr-grandmother, Martha O'Neill was born in 1869 in Pennsylvania. I have not found them in the Pennsylvania census in 1870, although they somehow must be there. In the 1880 census, they are in Fayette County PA , where Charles worked in the coal mines. I suspect that Charles may have come from Canada into Pennsylvania in the northeast, worked in the coal mines, got married, had a daughter, and moved to the coal fields of western Pennsylvania. But before finding the family in the 1880 census, I have no idea what happened before then. Does anyone in the list have these people in their trees? thank you, Tim Boyle

    3. Searching for info on the following families: KELLEY - Searching for the family of Benjamin (Thomas?) KELLEY b c 1772 NY (according to 1850 PA census) m Mary HOEL/HOLE early 1800's probably NY. Mary was a sister to the many HOEL's in Oregon Twp., Wayne Co. area 1850's. The family migrated to Wayne Co., PA by 1822 when a dau., Nancy, was born. (Another dau., E. Mahala, married into the BUCKINGHAM family of CT.) It is believed the family were very active Presbyterians. I have no info as to Ben's parentage. Family lore says the KELLEY's came from England on their own ship as they were shipbuilders. OLSOMMER - Denis b 1822 Alsace-Lorraine, FR d in Pike Co., PA m Barbara HILD b Alsace-Lorraine, FR - they married in Brooklyn, NY 1845, and had 7 children. Interested in contacting any OLSOMMER's in the area. TURNER - Searching for Isaac TURNER b 1788 Paris, FR d 1867 Wayne Co., PA. Isaac m Nancy KELLEY in 1848 after he stopped at her farm in Wayne Co., PA and worked for her. They had 8 children: Mathilda who was a post mistress for NayAug, PA; John Milton (may have been married to a DEPEW); Franklyn Varney (m Carolena MEYER); Mary Angeline; James Buchanan; Rosilla Correll m LOCKARD & HAUSER; Elma Martha DENISON & BIRD; and Elmer Marcus (last 2 were twins). Family lore says Isaac 'came from the Middle West' when he stopped at Nancy's farm and that he had been married twice before. Nothing is know of these marriages but he had children from them. In the 1850 Wayne Co., PA census a John TURNER is shown living next door to Isaac/Nancy. His children were: Maria, George and Milton - twins; Victoria and Virginia, and Henry. Since the name MILTON shows up in the children with Nancy plus twins in each family (this also carried into the next generation), I feel this John was an earlier son of Isaac. 3. Ever since I started tracing my family tree, I end up with more questions than answers. Let's make sure our descendants know who we are. STRANGERS IN THE BOX (Author Unknown) Come, look with me inside this drawer, In this box I've often seen, At the pictures, black and white, Faces proud, still, and serene. I wish I knew the people, These strangers in the box, Their names and all their memories, Are lost among my socks. I wonder what their lives were like, How did they spend their days? What about their special times? I'll never know their ways. If only someone had taken time, To tell, who, what, where, and when, These faces of my heritage, Would come to life again. Could this become the fate, Of the pictures we take today? The faces and the memories, Someday to be passed away? Take time to save your stories, Seize the opportunity when it knocks, Or someday you and yours, Could be strangers in the box.

    1. [PAWAYNE-L] Cemetery Project Update
    2. Lisa Carey Larchevesque
    3. Hello All, I wanted to update you on the Wayne Cemetery Project. We have combined efforts with other folks that were not aware of our efforts. We are excited about this. We have over 4800 in the data base and about another 200 in hard copy here that I work very slowly on. Visit the Cemetery pages and let me know if there is something you can add or correct. We are striving to be as accurate as possible. Another great feature of our data base is the annotated source. Since so many of these entries have been compiled by actual family members, we are benefitting from additional information not found on the stones. If you can help with this project, please pick a cemetery that needs attention (see list on site). The best format for submisstion is just as I have entered on the site. Last name, first name, date of birth, date of death, any relationship to who they are buried with, any stone inscription. Also, please also remember to post to the GenWeb boards on the Wayne site anytime you have a pension, obit, query, deed, bios, will or bilbliography. Thanks. All the best, Lisa Carey Larchevesque http://www.advsolutions.com/carey http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/l/a/r/Lisa-A-Larchevesque http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawayne

    2. WALTON in Ireland late 1700-1850 George WALTON was born in England in the1700. He was married to ORMSBY (English) and Sallie/Nancy DOLAN (Irish). His family immigrated to Ireland. His children were Henry married a GIBLIN sister; Margaret married a DONEGAN, Thomas married Bridget GIBLIN and Nathaniel married a Bridget. Henry, Margaret, Thomas and Nathaniel were Catholic. George WALTON had other children but I do not have any information on those children other than they were non-Catholic or married non-Catholics. The Catholic branch emigrated from Ireland and possibly immigrated to Canada. Some WALTON remained in Canada, possibly in the Hamilton area, while others immigrated to Pennsylvania (Hawley, Mt. Pleasant in Wayne Co PA and Scranton in Lackawanna County) and New York (Kingston and New Amsterdam). I have developed information on the Catholic branch in the United States but have been unable to develop information on the non Catholic branches in the United States. I also have not been successful in developing the WALTON family in Ireland or England. Possibility DONEGAN came from County Sligo based on tombstone found in Catholic cemetery in Hawley, Wayne County Pennsylvania.
