    2. Leader Development Institute
    3. Good morning and Merry Christmas I'm new to the list and thought I would share the names I am researching. If you have any interest/connection with them please contact me. My family history begins in the Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna and Lackawanna area (for that reason if you subscribe to those list I apologize if you've received this more than once). I've visited the area and have had considerable luck in my research and even greater luck with the good people of the area who helped me. I am located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. If for any reason you need something looked up locally here, please feel free to call upon me. 1. [PAWAYNE-L] Update to transcribed 1850 census data for Northeast PA
    2. Frederick Myers
    3. Hello all With the posting of the data for Dyberry Township Wayne County, only the the relatively populous townships of Texas and Honesdale remain to be done for Wayne county - 1850. Hopefully, these last two townships will be done in the new year. Because of their size I will plan on posting "in-progress" work. Before that I plan on working on some townships in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties containing groups of my ancestors and also to start to bring the data for Pike County on-line. And the work in Susquehanna County will continue (I haven't forgottten the request for Middletwon Twp :-) All for 1850 census year. I want to thank all those people who have contributed family data during the year. This allows the census data to be linked to information on "real" families. It is my hope that in the coming year I will be able to better support links within my lineage pages to other pages documenting the early individuals and families of the area. If you have web pages that are dedicated to an individual or family, please let me know, so that the lineage data can be posted and / or a cross-link can be included. Best wishes for a happy holiday season and a successful year ahead in searching for your ancestors. Fred -- _-_|\ Frederick W. 2. Mike Daly
    3. I have been away from this for awhile and slowly trying to get back into the swing of things again. Does anyone have the Birth and death dates of Jacob E. Shaffer. He is the son of Jacob and Susan (Enslin) Shaffer. Eldred's book on the Shaffer Family has birth as April 1841 and died 1917. He was married to Martha Jane Conners (while I am asking does anyone have information on her). Any help is appreciated. Mike Daly

    2. To all listers who are not members of Ancestry.com: They are offering free access to everyone from Dec. 7 through Dec. 21. This includes all records. I'm offering this information as an aid to list members. I am not recommending membership nor do I gain anything from this, on the contrary, it makes it more difficult for me to access records because of the increase in traffic. 1. [PAWAYNE-L] Update re: Kellam book--an FYI
    2. Kellam Book Update New information has been sent, quite a bit. A gift of both 1880 and 1900 NY and PA census soundex rolls, has occurred, these will supply some missing pieces (or add new puzzles). Information from varying kin of this generation has yet to come in-----one of the cousins mentioned in the packet received yesterday--"procrastination--and time got away." Happens-- been there, wore out that T-shirt myself. :-) My printer got bogged down in the Holiday rush with one machine down, pushing everyone back. End result: My new date with the printer is 26 January, with a 2 week turn around . (the photos are coming along nicely--they'll be ready in advance for the limited edition). Mailed directly after I pick them up. (padded envelopes addressed/stamped ready to "go." Cut off date for this Vol. I is 15 January 2001. If your updated/new info hasn't hit my desk by then, sorry---Vol. II will carry add ons, corrections. If this isn't satisfactory, please let me know, I'll refund your check. It has been so GREAT to be in touch with new cousins, lost cousins, play catch up. The enthusiasm and support have meant a LOT. My at home and away from home kids said, "We have enough in this state alone to have a mini reunion! Between Kellam, Hopkins/Noble descendants, we sure do. Even turned up an Elijah George Desc. on the NC Beach area, who sharedher entire line and work. (One more hurricane, she may head back to PA.) If you have anything to add to your last communique, found someone who "belongs," ----figured Dec. was too late--nope - reprieve all the way around. Good thing I've developed patience in the past 20 years----my first dealings with printers was a life lesson. :-) Everyone wants to do a manuscript from a disk--I want the printed and proofed, on paper, version run. Then I KNOW the index and the pages match, the photos go where planned. Supposedly. Maybe. Weeeeeeellllllllllll -- (best laid, and all that) Later, and, to those I may not be in touch with until 2001, Happy Holidays, stay safe, together with those who mean the most to you. 1. [PAWAYNE-L] NEPA census data for 1850
    2. Frederick Myers
    3. Greetings to all The latest update to the web site census data includes the entries of 1850 for Canaan Township in Wayne County. This township is the home of the SWINGLE family, whose descendants are very active on the areas mailing lists. Hopefully some of them will find data of interest, since 165 names (out of the almost 2000 new entries) have the SWINGLE surname. Perhaps one of those many people can assist in this cross referencing of the census data with lineage data also included on the site. The following SWINGLE families are listed in the census but I have no family data. First name Age http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can10 Chauncey 23 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can26 Aaron 29 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can27 Abram 48 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can28 Henry 45 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can32 Joseph 25 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can49 Joseph 47 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can59 Harman 37 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can154 Bar 57 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can162 Ephraim 35 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can293 Otha 40 ? http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can299 Benson 31 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0can324 Anson 25 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0sal225 Horatio 25 http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0sal235 Israel 48 This will add to the 138 people (mostly SWINGLEs) in 21 familes (from the new census entries) have already been linked into the site's family database. Can you help document the SWINGLE family members from the above links? Researchers contributing data on a new person to the lineage area are recognized by the inclusion of their name and email address. Enjoy... 2. Has anyone come across these names while doing cemetery research? I believe they died between 1880 and 1885 probably in Wayne County but I've not been able to come any closer than that. Their son, Jeremiah Foster, resided in South Canaan and is buried in the Bible Protestant Cemetery there. His parents were living with him in 1880. I would love to know where their bodily remains reside at the present... Any help would be appreciated. Joy
