    3. Hi, Vince! Say "thank you" to our distant Cousin Fred for posting so much useful data; we all thank him frequently! Your Catherine and family in 1850 are on his northeast PA (NEPA) site here: http://www.dsdata.com.au/cgi-bin/1850house.cgi?wayne0sco96 Since WILLIAMS families seem to be fairly well-researched in this area, a little searching should get you on your way to whatever info on "Kate" you seek. (You'll find local links to explore on the PAGenWeb sites for both Wayne and Susquehanna Counties.) Have a pleasant journey! 2. Lisa Carey Larchevesque
    3. Hello List! I got to visit Wayne County for two days in June and was able to spend time in Canaan Corners Cemetery. I also have some 1000 plus names waiting for me in my inbox from other wonderful volunteers that have also been hard at work this summer. I will be uploading them shortly. Please visit the list of contributors on the project and thank them anytime you have a chance. I will be boxing up my computer (and house) for a move across Denver in the end of August. I wanted to let everyone know that I will be off line for as long as two weeks during that time frame. Thanks to all who are helping with this project! All The best, Lisa Carey Larchevesque

    1. [PAWAYNE-L] palmyra twp. proximity to 1820 schools
    2. Holly Jagger
    3. Hello everyone~ A puzzle we are attempting to solve. -Missing from 1820 Palmyra census records--both children of Silas Woodward. Charles Woodward age 16 and Daniel age 14. Only silas and a female in household. Acc'ding to family lore, charles went "away to school" and we wonder WHAT schools were in existence then in WHAT locations for a 16 year old male. (By 1830, it 'appears' that Charles and wife and baby are back living with silas and female. Charles does stay in Wayne. Daniel settles, acc'ding to one source, somewhere in Luzerne County.) Does anyone have knowledge of schools in Wayne/Luzerne in this time pd.? regards from Binghamton Holly Jagger

    1. [PAWAYNE-L] Hugh LeStrange and Mary Ann McCabe!
    2. Robert Hoff
    3. I am looking to find information on the Wayne County LeStranges. Specifically on Hugh LeStrange and Mary Ann McCabe (both born circa 1855 and Married circa 1975). Their son Jerome LeStrange was born in PA 23 Feb 1886. It is my understanding that they (Hugh and Mary) were immigrants to the United States. After Mary's Death Hugh went to live with his other son John LeStrange on his farm in Wayne Cty. If there is a need for more specific information I would be happy to provide it. Any info on resources etc... would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance, Bob Hoff New jersey __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [PAWAYNE-L] FHL remodeling
    2. Allen or Elaine Child
    3. List members, When I searched at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City this week, I found that extensive remodeling is going on for the next two months. It is possible to search there, but there are some inconveniences which might cause some of you who have plans to come to Salt Lake to adjust your schedules for another time. Realizing the time and costs involved of hotels and transportation, I felt it a good idea to alert you of problems you may encounter. I live in Salt Lake City and search there each week and would be happy to answer questions and up date you on the remodeling. Below is a copy of the bulletin they are posting to library patrons: "Because of on-going remodeling, please take note of the following items: 6 July 2001 Main Floor: Tentative Schedule -July and August Books may be taken to another floor for use Please return them to the main floor when done Book photocopy machines have been re-distributed to other floors Patrons may experience high noise levels B2 Floor: Tentative Schedule -July and mid-August Books and microfilms may be taken to another floor for use Please return them to Floor B2 when done There may be a short period of time when books and microfilms may not be available for use. Patrons may experience high noise levels B1 and Second Floor: Remodel plans available at a later date You may wish to consider researching another ancestral line if records are not conveniently available at this time. The FamilySearch Center in the Joseph Smith Building has computers with FamilySearch, published family histories, 1920 Census, and the Family Group Record Archives collection."

    1. [PAWAYNE-L] "Families of Southern Tier New York, Northeastern Pennsylvania"- Vol. 1
    2. Families of Southern Tier New York, Northeastern Pennsylvania"- Vol. 1 Monday - An email to take care of a couple items. Was in to Raleigh by 8:30 this morning--no mean feat, having had to drop the 2 boys at college--directly North!! The "run" is going well. I'm happy I changed printers/publishers--these folks have taken a lot longer, but, I've been able to proof//make minor changes as we went along. Only one glitch, and Kevin just called, am going back in this afternoon---then ---clear sailing. Considering the size---408 sheets plus cover (which is very attractive)---one "drop" isn't bad, especially seeing it had nothing to do with lines and folks. The pictures came out super, Couldn't believe my eyes. Only ones didn't fare well were the internet print outs, either didn't come up at all-(had to pull them) --or a bit dark. Mailing begins Thursday, book rate, which will take 4 to 6 days, so says the P.O. Are you going to be away? Does anyone want me to hold theirs til they return? For the ones who have ordered multiples, do you want them all sent to you, or do you want them shipped individually? Just let me know, it's no problem. Sheila // Firehair Box # 99 Bunn, Nc 27508 919-496-1604 ***************************************************** Kellam, (several lines, LI, PA, NY-- this section takes about 300 pages) Adams, Hopkins, Parsons, Lord, Jenson, Mitchell, Zurn, Park(e) (s). 816 pages, spiral bound, indexed, contains large amounts of text, includes abt 72 pages (8 1/2 by 11 ) photographs, maps, clippings (abt 72 pages (8 1/2 by 11 ) Order from the author directly. Several orders came in after mid May, a second run will be done mid to late Aug. 2001 , when I have the minimum amount of copies which willhold the price. price, including mailing, is $60. 1. [PAWAYNE-L] Luzerne and Wayne connections
    2. Holly: Luzerne county once included what is now Lackawanna County until late in the 19th century. Since Lackawanna is contiguous to Wayne, ownership of land (or moving back and forth) is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. My g grandfather lived north of Scranton (in what was then Luzerne Co.) and then moved to Northern Wayne about 1900. Lee Woodmansee
