    3. I had some relatives from the Damascus, PA area and I know they were Lutheran. Maybe you can help. Their names are August Leonard Hermanni b. 8/29/1831 and possibly from Germany and his wife Eleanora Pender b. 11/15/1837. They had 7 children and their names were August, Ferdinand, Caroline, Eleanore, Johanna, Louis, and Edwin. One of their daughters Eleanore married Karl Hartmann and he was from Damascus. Karl's parents were Jacob and Helen (Herzog) Hartmann. August and Eleanora went to NE to homestead around 1882. If you have any information on the Hermanni's that would be great. I can't get back any farther than August and Eleanore so far. Thank you for your help. Also could you please tell me if there is a town named Bath or is it Bath County in PA. 3. Janet, The cemetery where the Roseners (not Rosners) are buried is the Riverdale or Riverview (I never can remember which it is) Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant Township. Since you didn't give us the names of your ancestors I couldn't look them up. Although there were churches in Pleasant Mount, Aldenville and elsewhere, to the best of my knowledge there was no church associated with that cemetery. Rural church records for that period are virtually non-existent, but if you tell us what names you are researching, perhaps someone has the information you're looking for. German immigrants came to Wayne County for many reasons and worked at many occupations. Some Germans worked at the very early glass factory in Bethany or the later ones in Aldenville (this might be a clue), Honesdale, White Mills, etc. Others were butchers, merchants or canal and Gravity RR workers. And of course the major occupation in Wayne County was farming. A look at the census will answer that question for your particular ancestor and his neighbors (although many men worked at other occupations - like lumbering, tanning, etc. and farmed at the same time but were enumerated as simply "farmer"). There were German Lutheran and Catholic churches in Honesdale, but it appears from the names listed for this cemetery that it was mixed - that is, while there are many German names there are also non-Germans buried there. 3. My gggrandparents are buried in the German cemetary near Aldenville. Does anyone know if there was a church in that area and if so, what became of it and its records? Also, does anyone know anything about the German community in that area in the 1850s-1880s? Also buried in that cemetary are a number of ROSNERs. Adam ROSNER was the executor of my gggrandfather's estate. Is anyone out there researching ROSNER? Regards, Janet S. Thomas Westlake Village, CA

From Michael's first marriage (in GER - mentioned in his will) he had a daughter, Louisa, who is shown below on the emigration ship. I recently transcribed the ship's list for Ship BAYARD 5 Sept. 1828 (http://istg.rootsweb.com/) from Harve to NYC. On the list is this family: Michal BU(E)HLER 39 - weaver, Christian (probably his wife Christina) 28, Lousa 9, G J 4, Christof 12, Carl 46, I Ad?? 10, Carl 14 and I A 10. All from Baden. Spellings are exactly as written by the captain of the ship. This is my family. Altho this ship docked in NYC, other info from local PA county histories says the Buehler's were also in Philadelphia and Michael was in Wayne Co. by 1829. 3. Searching for info on the following families: KELLEY - Searching for the family of Benjamin (Thomas?) KELLEY b c 1772 NY (according to 1850 PA census) m Mary HOEL/HOLE early 1800's PA. Mary was a sister to the many HOEL's in Oregon Twp., Wayne Co. area 1850's. The family migrated to Wayne Co., PA by 1822 when a dau., Nancy, was born. (Another dau., E. Mahala b NY, married into the BUCKINGHAM family of CT.) It is believed the family were very active Presbyterians. I have no info as to Ben's parentage or siblings. Family lore says the KELLEY's came from England on their own ship as they were shipbuilders. A son, Robert, married into the K(E)(I)LLAM family of Wayne Co. Benj. KELLEY had 2 tanneries in Wayne Co. OLSOMMER - Denis b 1822 Alsace-Lorraine, FR d in Pike Co., PA m Barbara HILD b Alsace-Lorraine, FR - they married in Brooklyn, NY 1845, and had 7 children. Interested in contacting any OLSOMMER's in the area. TURNER - Searching for Isaac (de la Tourneur) TURNER b 1788 Paris, FR d 1867 Wayne Co., PA. Isaac m Nancy KELLEY in 1848 after he stopped at her farm in Salem, Wayne Co., PA and worked for her. They had 8 children: Mathilda who was a post mistress for NayAug, PA; John Milton (m Mahitable DEPEW) lived in Cortez; Franklyn Varney (m Carolena MEYER); Mary Angeline; James Buchanan; Rosilla Correll m LOCKARD & HAUSER; Elma Martha DENISON & BIRD; and Elmer Marcus (last 2 were twins). Family lore says Isaac 'came from the Middle West' when he stopped at Nancy's farm and that he had been married twice before. Nothing is know of these marriages but he had children from them. In the 1850 Wayne Co., PA census a John TURNER is shown living next door to Isaac/Nancy. His children were: Maria, George and Milton - twins; Victoria and Virginia, and Henry. Since the name MILTON shows up in the children with Nancy plus twins in each family (this also carried into the next generation), I feel this John was an earlier son of Isaac. 3. Hello all The transcription of 1850 census Delaware Twp in Pike county is now on the website. Additionally I want to give Roger a big thank you for the data on the Tennant family - mainly in the Great Bend area of Susquehanna Co Four brothers married to four sisters - and the sisters from one of my ancestral lines. :-) Thanks cousin. I have quite a few family entries which have been culled from marriage records or county histories. But in many cases the parents of the marriage couple are not listed. However as the census record becomes more complete I find that there are a limited number of families that could be the parents. I'll be happy to search for possible family connections for other similar situations. Enjoy. Fred -- _-_|\ Frederick W. 3. Bonnie - I am a great grandaughter of Sylva Butler Neville, daughter of George W. Butler. The town of origin is not Sheldon Falls MA but Sherburne Falls. Took me several years to discover this. There is a question on the early Censuses about where George W. was born and I am working on that. One says he was born in MA and the other says NJ, which as a state does not have an early census (before 1850) and he was born in 1812. Hope this helps.
