Thank you Lee for the important warning. I too received this mysterious response - to an email I sent months ago and was no longer looking for information. It looked very suspicious and I deleted it immediately. Everyone, please be careful. Our genealogy contacts are far to valuable to loose any of you to these insidious attacks. Users of PAWAYNE-L rootsweb: I received an email from a Carol Doss re: a posting I had made. It was an unusual set-up requiring me to download an attachment. It appears to be a virus sent by Carol's computer (not Carol) to people using her email addresses. I have asked her to confirm the email and have received no reply to date. The email is from: [email protected] and the attachment is Images.doc.pif. Be wary of this file. If you have information regarding the email, please let me (us) know. Lee Woodmansee
I received the same message from [email protected] My Norton anti-virus is wonderful in that it doesn't let these messages through, but notifies me that an incoming message included a virus. Norton also scans every message that goes out from my computer. Hi, I received an E-Mail re: Nathan Skinner Young. My Norton System caught it, so I did not open it, and waited for my son to fix it. It was [email protected] which is a worm that had to be removed manually. Norton had instructions on how to remove it so my son notified her and sent an E-Mail attachment on how to fix it. We hope it helps her. Well I totally blew the last message here is what I meant to write... George BROWN came from the HaverStraw Bay area of New York and settled in Wayne County PA. He was born about 1769 and died at the age of 59, April 17, 1828. He married Eleanor DECKER daughter of Solomon and Mary (Thomas) DECKER. I have many of his descendants... none of his ancestors...... Does he connect in anyway to your Browns? Iris
Hi, I don't know anything about the Brown family but have a Catherine Lassley in the family, born in Pennsylvania June of 1788. She has a sister Lany Eleanor Lassley born April 18 1796 in Milanville, Damascus, Wayne County. There is 27 years difference in the ages of her and George Brown, so it probably is not the right Eleanor, but just in case I thought I let you know. James Claude Brown is a 2nd cousin. He is the son of Arthur Brown and Eva Gifford. Eva is the daughter of James Gifford the brother of Robert Gifford (my grandfather). Arthur was born in 1895 and Claude in 1919. Claude served in the army in WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. I have a greatgreatgrand father, Samuel Kimble, that was born in PA, I believe Wayne County. I hope this information helps.

Susan, Suggest you contact Gloria McCullough , Research Librarian at the Wayne County Historical Society ([email protected]). She has information on these families, and I believe she can put you in touch with at least one current Fives researcher whom I know about.
