List, Morganza is mentioned all the time in the old Wash Reporter Newspapers. Something interesting that was mentioned once in the papers is the fact that they said the majority of the kids there were because of step-parents! The point they made was that the parent had remarried (i.e., normally because of death as there were few divorces) and the step-parent did not want the child at home. She was really mistreated there. She told horror stories abt that place. She told us of a young black girl that was taken into a room and beaten to death. Grandma said that when they (those in charge) carried the young black girl out, she and the other inmates had to clean the blood that dripped from the girls lifeless body. My grandmother was said to be incouragable. She was only like 6yrs old. She was put out to work and was raped by the people that took her in. To put it mildly, Morganza was Hell. I called to see if I could get info abt the children that were there. I was informed that all the papers from Morganza was burnt in a fire. I still feel that was convenient. You can look up on line and find stories about that place. The movie "Silence of the Lamb" used Morganza in the movie. They needed a place that was dark & scarry. There is info out there on this place. None of it is good. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
