However there were many ships named Liberty. Including the Endeavor Captain Cook's ship in which he explored the Pacific ocean. As I understand it was renamed the "Liberty" when it was sold by the English Navy. There is a book on Google Books in the Full View section on some ships of that period (1794). "The French assault on American shipping, 1793-1813: a history and ...". It list 17 ships with the name Liberty. You will have to analyze the situation where you found the phrase and determine if it was a phrase or an actual ship. From the context you will have to determine if it was a merchant ship or naval ship. Once you have an idea of what kind of ship you are looking for, your search will be easier.
