Service NC #3724 State of Kentucky Hopkins County TITUS FOX wife ELIZABETH On the 12 day of March 1844 formally appears before the Court for the County of_________ELIZABETH FOX a resident of the County of Hopkins and the state of KY. Aged 78 years, who being first duly sworn according to the law doth on her oath, make the following distinction in------------to obtain the benefit of the pension made by the act of Congress passed July 4, 1836 that she is the widow of Titus Fox, who was a private in the army of the Revolution that during the whole of his service in the United States his residence was in WITHY (?) County, North Carolina. Previous to her marriage with said TITUS FOX, she had long been acquainted with him, her residence not being more than ______miles from her. What she recalled he was gone from home in the service of the United States for 3 months, she thinks this happened occured between_____ two years before her marriage with said FOX and they ______she always understood that he was a volunteer and that the service was mostly in the lower part of South Carolina in the neighbor hood of Charleston. She said TITUS and herself were married on the 25th day of August 1780. And about one week after their marriage she said TITUS FOX started on another trip in which he was gone about 2 months during their tour tho battle of Kings Mountain was fought, he was in the engagement, he belonged to a corp of infantry who did not arrive on the ground until a few minutes after the surrender tho_______________he was in hearing of said battle. He wemt__________of any considerath length occurred in the winter of 1781-1782 in that he was gone over two months the___________time, she cannot state during this time her first child was born which happened on the 2nd January 1782. She thinks in thy tour of service he went Deep_______(in South Carolina she thinks but is not positive) She further states in other words he was frequently gone on short tours in afterwards, he was frequently gone on short tours against the Torries some times a few days sometimes a week or more. She cannot state with any certainty the names or grades of the officers under which he served. She having recalled the names of them named Benjamin Clea_____land, who was always called Colonel Williams Lewis McCajah Su ___y Jnt (?) Lewis Samuel Grhman. She thinks he was called Captain Richard Allen whorn she first knew him, he was called Captain afterward Major and after that Colonel. She further declared that was married as before to the said TIYUS FOX on the 25th day of August in the year Seventeen hundred and eighty that her husband- - - - - TITUS FOX died in the 22 day of June 1825 and she has remained a widow ever since that period as will more fully approve by reference to the proof hereto menc_ _ _ _ _ Sworn to subscribed on the day and year above written of (can't quite read this) HIPKINJ in the state of Kentucky as of _ _ _ _ _ her ELIZABETH FOX x mark State of Kentucky Can't quite make out this: Nefrkius County On the14th day of September 1852. Before me _ _ _ _ _ an active Justice and State Official who being sworn according to law on his oath makes this following declaration for them _ _ _ _ of obtaining the benefit of any act or acts of this _ _ _ _ _ of the United States granting to the children of deceased _ _ _ _ olutionary ordered a Pension to wit. That he is the legally appointed Administrator whom this estate of ELIZABETH FOX widow of TITUS FOX duties of this County and States afore _ _ _ _who was a Private Soldiers in this_ _ _ _ _ _ lives of the Army of the United States and this was of this Revolution. That application had here before been made for a Pension and to the evidence on files, with said application he refers for proof of service identity. He further declares that those of _ _ _ _ _ and TITUS FOX died in this country and State afore said on this twenty first day of June. One thousand eight hundred and twenty five that his widow the a forand ELIZABETH FOX died in the 24th aforeaid County and States on this twenty fourth day of September and forty five aged about seventy eight years leaving with the following named children to wit: ALLEN FOX aged fifty years. JAHILE FOX aged about forty _ _ _ years. DANIEL FOX aged about sixty five years at the time of his death five years ago. Mrs. AMELIA MEREDITH aged about seventy years. Mrs. MARY D IS L (can't make out this name) aged about fifty three years. Mrs. MILINDA MATTHEWS aged about forty four years. Mrs.SARAH _ OANKARD (above that name is Mathews aged about fifty six at the time of her deaths about three years _ _ _ and JAMES FOX aged about fifty three years at the times of deaths some four years hence. We further declare that the said TITUS and ELIZABETH FOX were married in Wilkis County, North Carolina about the years one thousand seven hundred and eight. That her name before her marriage to the said FOX was ELIZABETH WRIGHT. Jessie Lioe (?)
