Hi Geni Cuz Susan & Other Cuz's of the WRIGHT'S GEORGE B. WRIGHT b. 14 Sept. 1824 - d. 4 Aug. 1863 born in Pennsylvania. He married LUCEINDA BOOHER on 24 Apr. 1849 in Greene Co., PA. She was born: 01 Oct. 1827 at Ryerson's Station, Richill Twp., Greene Co., PA. The daughter of: SOLOMON & MARY COX (BOOHER). George B. & Lucinda Wright lived in Wasington Twp., as he announced for the Sheriff of Greene County from there in March 24, 1858. (The Waynesburg Messenger Newspaper notice of March 24, 1858.) He was elected and served from Oct. 28, 1858 to Nov. 22, 1861 (Bates History) He died 4 Aug. 1863, leaving his widow and six surviving minor children. George appeared in the 1850 US Census under the spelling of "RIGHT", in Washington Twp. At that time, his household consisted of his wife, one child, Mary Ann (1849-1853) and two young ladies, Elsey and Martha WRIGHT (RIGHT), who may have been his sisters, based on their ages. His occupation was of a farmer. He appeared in the 1860 US Census for Waynesburg, with his wife and 5 surviving children, Elizabeth, Rachel, Emma Jane, Andrew Jackson and Nancy Ann. His occupation was Sheriff, and he also had a WILLIAM M. WRIGHT, age27, living in the home with his occupation listed as Deputy Sheriff, This may have been his brother , as George & Lucinda's second child was named William M. Wright. 1850-1851. Gerorge & Lucinda had one more child, GEORGE B., JR. in 1861, who died in 1953. Lucinda married STEPHEN WHITE in 1865, and in addition to the six children named above, they had 4 children of their own between 1866-1872. Stephen White already had 7 children by his first wife: Sarah BRADFORD, but all were adults and left home at the time of the 1870 Census. The six surviving WRIGHT children were all accounted for in the 1870 Census of the WHITE home. The only older Wright found was LOUIS WRIGHT, a Revolutionary War pensionser, but in the Census records of (pre-1850) show, because of the number of ages and sexes that he cannot be attached to anyone, but he could be George B. Wright's grandfather at best considering his age? In George, Jr's notations he stated that the "B" stood for his paternal grandmother's maiden name of BRUCE. My Grandmother NELLE CYNTHIA HOUSTON-FOX, whose mother was MARY CAROLINE WRIGHT married to: DAVID ISAAC HOUSTON, said that once she had a relative that was a Sheriff. So I'm wondering if This GEORGE B. WRIGHT is the brother of my SOLOMON WRIGHT married to NANCY GRAY. For Solomon Wright had a brother: GEORGE, who the first son, of ABRAHAM "Abe" WRIGHT, then there was SOLOMON, DAVID, ELI, SARAH, & MINERVA. And that GEORGE could have had middle initial "B" ? ? If we could fing out if SUSANNAH (Susanne)'s last name was BRUCE? ? ? Who was the wife of Abraham "Abe" Wright. His date would be in the early 1800's also, and in Greene Co., PA. This may be the puzzle? ? ? And the connection ? ? ? Hummmmmmmmm ! CARPE DIEM, Lori CHUCKLE: The main reason folks long for the good old days us that they weren't old then. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dear Geni Wright Cuz ~ I've been getting those unsubscribe-only emails all day. I delete them because I don't wanna unsubscribe. I still have hope that someday, someone will post information about my Wright ancestors. George B Wright, 1824-1863, born somewhere in PA, died in Greene County. Known to have farmed in Washington Twp., Greene County, PA, prior to his election as Sheriff of Greene County 1858-1861. His parents remain unknown, although there is evidence that he had a brother, William M, and sisters, Elsey and Martha. We don't even know where George the Sheriff was buried. I can find no record of his having served in the Civil War. George married Lucinda Booher of Ryerson's Station, Richhill Twp., Greene County, PA in 1848 and had 6 children who survived him: Elizabeth, Rachel, Emma Jane, Andrew Jackson, Nancy Ann and George "Booher" Wright. Lucinda married her second husband, Stephen White in 1865, and had four more children: Lucinda, John Darling, Joseph and Montezuma (poor soul!). We do know where Lucinda and Stephen White are buried. I have looked everywhere on-line and have no way to get to Greene County in person. People who have the Cornerstone Genealogy Society publications of cemetery data and/or access to the newspaper records have found nothing. Does anyone have any information in regard to the parentage of George B Wright, late Sheriff of Greene County, PA?
