    3. Hi. I am a beginner on/with this list and am searching in order to find out how to attain information on births at the Washington Hospital in May of 1978. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Tina --------------------------------- Shape Yahoo! in your own image. Join our Network Research Panel today!

    3. Tina, It depends on what you need and how you are related to the person/s you want info on. If it is your medical / birth record, you can request through Washington Hospital. They may still have old records on microfilm. You will need to prove who you are. First, all births and deaths are registered at the State level (not in 1800s though). You can find the PA Department of Vital Records in New Castle PA (look online for request forms). You will need to send a copy of your picture ID, state your relationship to the person whose record you seek, give a reason you seek the info, and pay a fee. If you do not know an exact date, for a higher fee they will research a short number of years. You didn't say, but I'll include adoptions just in case you need that. If the birth resulted in adoption, you won't get the records even if it is about you.... you can still request and get info about how you can unseal your own reords. If you know an exact date -- or a month -- the Citizens Library, College St, Washington PA 15301 will look in the newspaper for a birth announcement - cost I think 10 or 12 dollars.
