Good Day, All: In the Washington PA Observer-Reporter Newspaper, Monday, December 3, can be found the obituary of Mr. Glenn L. “Bub” Hughes. I have known Mr. Hughes and all of his family for 35 years. I am saddened that the originator of the obit unfortunately provided faulty, serious errors and omissions. Because I have known him so long, I can identify errors in this obit. My connections to him arose because I raised his granddaughter, Debbie Jo Hughes, as my own daughter from the time she was 4 years old. I’ll explain in more detail below (*) We researchers know that obit errors are a serious matter. I do not have the influence to see that a second, corrected obit will be printed, though I hope that one does appear. Even if it does, some researchers may never know to look for it. Mr. Hughes’s lineage can be traced to Greene County. He was a resident of Washington County for about the past 55 years. Find below the corrections (most in BOLD type) necessary for anyone interested in this family. THANKS!! _________________________________________________________________________ 1.) Glenn Hughes’ parents are Clyde Roseberry Hughes (1902-1961) and Thelma Rinehart Hughes (1903-1978). This couple is buried in the Washington PA Cemetary. The Hughes and Rinehart families can be easily traced as residents of Greene County, PA. 2.) Glenn Hughes first married Norma Jean Schoenberger (1926-1998) on June 2, 1946. She was the daughter of George Clinton Schoenberger and Helen May Hughes (1900-1977) who are also Greene County folks. Norma Schoenberger Hughes is the mother of Glenn Hughes’ 2 sons. Why her name does not appear is a mystery. 3.) Glenn and Norma’s 2nd son is named Charles William Hughes, but he is known as Bill Hughes. Bill Hughes 1st married Sonya Jean Sinclair. They bore Debbie Jo Hughes (*) in 1973, but they divorced in 1977. I married Sonya in 1978 taking Debbie as my daughter to raise in my household. Debbie is the granddaughter of Glenn’s mentioned in the obit named as Debbie Jo. 4.) But, Debbie Jo Hughes (1973-) married Dale L. Crouse (1960-), please note the correct spelling of her married surname appears here. Debbie and Dale bore Glenn’s 2 greatgranddaughters. They should be listed in the obit as Elizabeth Crouse (2001-) and Emma Crouse (2004-). 5.) Glenn Hughes died in Amwell Twp., Washington County, PA at the home he shared with his 2nd wife in the rural Amity, PA area. The obit may lead the reader to believe that his death occurred in his former home in Washington, PA. Glenn Hughes moved from his Washington, PA home to the Amity-Amwell rural home when he married for the 2nd time in 2004. _________________________________________________________________ Put your friends on the big screen with Windows Vista® + Windows Live™. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/shop/specialoffers.mspx?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_CPC_MediaCtr_bigscreen_102007
