They lived on at the Dutch Fork of Buffalo Creek in Donegal Township in the mid 1770's. First of all: Elizabeth Hewitt (b. 6/9/1745, d. 1823) m John Jacob Leffler (b 6/9/1740 - d 3/30/1784) in Hagerstown, Washington Co MD in 1761. In the Funkstown, MD Old Reformed Church record from July thru Apr 1773 list the bapt of a couple children under the Huyert name. John Ludwig Huyert of Philipp Huyert and Eva bapt Jul 25, 1773; spon: Ludwig Huyert and wife Margaretha John Jacob Huyert of Peter Huyert and Magdalena bapt Apr 17, 1774, age 3 mo; spon: Jacob Loessler and wife Margaretha Many of these people moved to Dutch Fork in 1777, the Loessler name was changed to Leffler. The Huyert or Huett spelling was changed to Hewitt. My ancestor Jacob Rizor married John Jacob Leffler's aunt, Elizabeth Leffler. The Rizor name was previously spelled Reysser and Roeser in the Funkstown, MD Old Reformed Church record. There is another source for the Hewitt name in the document "Early Day Settlers on Dutch Fork and Buffalo Creeks, Washington County, PA 1770-1800" compiled by Lester F. Smith and J. Harland Keenan. The name is shown under a profile of the Leffler Family, John Jacob Leffler 1745? - 1784. It also mentions the Hagerstown (Funkstown), MD connection and the relationship of these people to each other. I understand that this book is available in the Washington County Law Library.
