I cannot help but notice that several "Certificate[s] of Discharge" occur in this Grantor/Grantee Index, as well as various officer commissions, certificates of service, etc. I also see that there are several bankruptcies filed. I now fully understand the grantor/grantee situation with the churches, which are listed first, thanks to Judy and Ruth, but I am stumped as to the registration of what I feel are military discharges of some kind. As a civil war enthusiast, I notice that the names of the men listed are Civil War vets from Washington County. What a mystery! Thank you for your assistance and information.
