    3. I printed out the 10 pages and have been looking them over. In the listing of Grantee Names from the Grantor of the United States, I located my husbands gr gr grandfather, Obadiah Sprowls. The date of record in the list was 1893. I know that Obadiah died in 1898 and I have his pension file. I looked thru the stack of pension papers and nothing is dated for 1893. UNLESS, someone mistook 1898 for 1893. But, I doubt that since there are many names with the date of 1893. Looking at the dates, the names are not in alpha order, but in order by date. With the column headings of Grantor and Grantee, they must be for deeds of land, correct? What does the term Discharge mean? Is this different than Certificate of Discharge? I "think" that the listings starting with United States is military service info, that has only been listed after deed info. (?) I re-read the deeds I have for Obadiah and found nothing relating to 1893. And his discharge paper states that it was July 1865 that he was discharged near Alexandria VA. I would be interested in someones expertise as to just what these discharge papers are for exactly. Ruth Sprowls
