    3. HEAGAN, JOHNS, SWEARINGEN, NOONEN William HEAGAN, an old and highly respected business man of Canonsburg, died suddenly on Monday evening of this week. Mr. HEAGAN was about 67 years of age and was born on the old HEAGAN homestead on the Venice road two miles south of McDonald. He had been in the grocery business in Canonsburg for thirty-five years, and was said to enjoy the personal friendship of more people than any other man of his community. Died, on Saturday, January 9, 1909, at 10:45 p.m., Stephen Stuart JOHNS, Jr., son of the lat Stephen Stuart and Annie JEWETT JOHNS, in his 58th year. Funeral services were held at the family residence on Tuesday, January 12th, at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Arlington cemetery. Mr. Stuart JOHNS had lived for many years in New Mexico. After a severe illness five years ago, he came home hoping to regain his health, but he steadily declined until his death on Saturday. Phillip SWEARINGEN of Burgettstown died Friday while on the way to a Pittsburg Hospital, supposedly from the effects of a dog bite received then years ago in Kansas. He became ill first of the week, showing signs of hydrophobia. He was seized with convulsions while seated in the carriage, en route to the railroad station and died in a few moments. He was born in West Virginia. All business men of Sturgeon have a sympathetic feeling for Mr. NOONEN, who lost his wife this week. Mr. NOONEN has been employed by the Railroad Company at Sturgeon for twenty years and is known by every man, woman and child in the village. *Sturgeon column
