    3. Dear Washington County searchers, Some of my local lines include, Norris, Horn, Weaver, Caldwell, Gilliland, White, Ross, Patterson, McKnight, Crumrine, Young, Fuhrman, Sharpless, Lewis, Hinkson, Baldwin, Dell. Most from Eastern Pa earlier. Much I have everything on so could possibly help someone else or could exchange information on. However -------- I have a Norris Line in North Strabane Twp. that goes back to at least 1782, when John Norris died & left one son, Charles, who was under 21 years. John was married to a Susannah________, who died later. The son, Charles married a Jane ________. I would like to find out what her maiden name was but have not to this date. Charles had sons. That included my John (who married 1st. Elizabeth Ground, who died) and & then Barbara Ann Horn, who outlasted John, who died in 1864. This John had 1 son, My Charles Patterson Norris, from whom I descend. The land on which Charles was born was part of the family land that went clear back to the first John. This is the land that I spoke of once in regard to being the land up from the Quail House, on which the big housing development now sits. It looked better without the development. I have seen early grants for the Norris name nearby but I have not made a connection to any from hunting in records. There was another Charles Norris in the area, who would have been Older than John's son, that I believe is the same one that is listed as enlisting in the Revolutionary War from an adjoining twp. My John also went in to the Revolutionary War from North Strabane Twp. so you can see how early he was in the area. I do know that a Fort Norris was listed in the History of Washington County on land that belonged to William Norris also. It is my belief that these other men were somehow related to my first John, but I've seen nothing to prove it to date. Norris is all over the place from PA to MD & VA and in New England in many records, but I have seen nothing to help for certain. I am looking for some descendant that knows from their Family History, or surviving documentation something about this family. I know that some of the people around the Norris family are said to all have come from Cecil County, MD but can find nothing there to hitch on to. My Norris holdings of research are extensive but nothing seems to come through. My Norris grandmother used to tell me that they came from Norristown, PA & that is possible, but I can't rely on that kind of statement as so many times it is not correct. If anyone on here has something really substantial please let me know, or if you hear of any descendant down the road, I monitor this site. I'll have another one to write about sometime in the future also. Thanks, Ellen J. Ballas Visit my web site at: http://www.familytreetracer.com <http://www.familytreetracer.com/>
