    3. Hickory, Nov. 21.---Surrounded by their children and grandchildren and a few of their intimate friends Mr. and Mrs. James F. HILL, an aged and highly respected couple residing in this place, today celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. HILL were married November 21, 1850, and have journeyed in life together just three-score years, or only ten years short of the psalmist's allotted span of life. The celebration today was of a quiet nature. Ten years ago Mr. and Mrs. HILL celebrated their golden wedding, with about 200 guests present. The affair was a memorable one, a brass band being present to enliven the occasion, and a dinner such as only Hickory women know how to prepare was served in the Hickory academy building. Two hundred sat down to the feast. The toastmaster of the day was Dr. Joseph MCELROY. Mr. HILL is a son of the late William HILL, who died in 1894 at the age of 100 years, two months and 24 days. He was formerly engaged in the merchant tailoring business, and for a quarter of a century kept a hotel at hickory, but for a number of years has lead a retired life. Of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. HILL, three are living. These are Thomas and Wilson of Pittsburg, and Calvin of Boston, Mass.
