BARNES, MOORE, DUFFY William A. BARNES, aged 78 years, died at this home in Liberty street on Tuesday evening, October 21, at 7:45 o'clock after an illness of seven months. He had been ailing for the past two years and since April of this year his condition had grown much worse, resulting in his death. Mr. BARNES was a son of Francis BARNES of Virginia. His mother, before marriage, was Miss Mary J. FORRESTER of Maryland. He was born and reared in Mt. Pleasant township, and had spent practically all of his life in Washington County. Mr. BARNES was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mary J. PATTON of near Canonsburg, to whom he was married on May 15, 1866. To this union five children were born. They are, Frank P., Nettie E. and Alice M. BARNES, who reside at home, Miss Emma BARNES of Findlay, Ohio, and Minnie, the wife of Albert BEHLING of McDonald. Mrs. BARNES died May 26, 1877. On February 25, 1879, Mr. BARNES was united in marriage with Miss Sarah E. WILSON of Hanover township. Three children were born to them as follows: Joseph Wallace, who died at the age of ten months, Mrs. J. E. PORTER of near McDonald and William C. BARNES at home. There are six grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister also survive. They are J. C. BARNES of Fairfield, Iowa, George H. BARNES of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. J. C. REED of Hickory. Mr. BARNES was a farmer by occupation, coming to McDonald from the Richard CROOKS farm, where he had lived thirteen years. Since his removal here in March of 1909 he had resided in Liberty street. Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church of McDonald on Friday, October 24, at one p.m.; conducted by the Rev. J. P. JORDAN, assisted by the Rev. W. D. IRONS, D. D. Interment will be made in Mt. Prospect cemetery, Hickory. Andrew J. MOORE, aged 61 years, died on Saturday evening, October 18, 1913, at 5:30 o'clock at his home near Venice. He had been ailing for several months. For a time he was seriously ill but recovered sufficiently to come to McDonald the week of the Burgettstown fair and attend to some business matters. The news of his death came as a shock to this community where he was well known. Mr. MOORE was a son of John MOORE and was born in Butler County where he spent his early life on his father's farm. In 1872 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary REED of Butler County. In 1877 the family moved to Washington County, locating on a farm near Venice. From 1903 to 1912 Mr. MOORE made his home in McDonald, leading a retired life. A year ago he went back to the farm. In politics he was a Republican. He was a member of the Venice United Presbyterian Church. Besides his wife there survive two children: John I. MOORE of Buffalo, N. Y., and Mrs. Emma J. SCOTT, wife of Dr. W. L. SCOTT of Raccoon. He also leaves one brother, J. E. MOORE of Houston. Funeral services in charge of the Rev. C. T. LITTEL, who was assisted by the Rev. W. D. IRONS, D. D., were held at the MOORE home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in the Venice cemetery. Patrick DUFFY, aged fifty years, of Noblestown, died Monday evening in the Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, from injuries received in an accident at the mine of the Fayette Coal Company near Noblestown, Monday morning. Several months ago his little son Patrick was struck by an automobile and died from the injuries. DUFFY was employed as a roadman at the mine. About five o'clock Monday morning he was riding on the first car of a trip of loaded cars down the slope to dump them. As he started to jump off he slipped and fell backward, striking his head. His skull was fractured. A wife and five children survive. The funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Church at Noblestown on Wednesday morning and were largely attended. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church.
