W. LAND of Oakdale CHAMAR Monday night was reported to be in an extremely critical condition. CHAMAR is supposed to have been coming home from Bridgeville Monday night when he came upon the crowd of young men, some from Sturgeon and some from Reissing, who were drinking near Laurel Hill. Tuesday morning, the 2 o'clock express was stopped at McDonald and he was taken to the Mercy hospital, Pittsburg. The state police, under the command of John P. DAHNER, stationed at Oakdale arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting, and rounded up ten of the gang, among them COOK who did the shooting. They are all in the lockup at Oakdale. CHAMAR resides at McDonald with his mother. They are one of the oldest French families of McDonald, and young CHAMAR, who is about 24 years of age, stands well there. He was born at McDonald. The young man shot was not a party to the trouble but was acting as a peacemaker.
