Jacob RIEU, aged about 65 years, was seriously injured when caught by a fall of slate in Jumbo mine Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock. The lower part of his back was badly crushed. He was taken to his home in Valley street and on Tuesday removed to a Pittsburgh hospital. RIEU was employed as a digger in the mine, and the fall of slate caught him in the room where he was working before he could make his escape.
