RICHARDS, SAUERS, SMITH, PERENIC, MCCARRELL, BRITT Mrs. Eliza RICHARDS, 87, of Midway, died Thursday, July 14, 1983, in the Canonsburg hospital. A daughter of Jules and Juliet DUMONT GILLES, she was born October 9, 1895, in Midway. She and her late husband, Thomas RICHARDS, owned and operated the Richards Garage and Confectionery Store in Midway for 40 years. Surviving are a son, Thomas RICHARDS of Midway; a granddaughter, Carol MASLANKA; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Saturday morning in the Thomas and Little funeral home, Midway, in charge of the Rev. James CRANSTON, pastor of the Center U. P. Church, Midway. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Mrs. Mabel BRAY SAUERS, 74, wife of Elwood SAUERS, died Sunday, July 17, 1983, in her home in Clinton. A daughter of the late William and Roseann HERRING, she was born December 21, 1908, in Santiago. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dolores BOHASKY of Imperial, Mrs. Jo Ann BOWLING of Bridgeville, and Mrs. Beverly IGLAR of Midway; a son, Robert of Oakdale; three brothers, Dewey, Thomas, and William BRAY of Imperial; a sister, Mrs. Emma LOGAN of Imperial; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in the Wharton funeral home, Imperial, in charge of the Rev. Bruce OGLE, pastor of the Valley Presbyterian Church, Imperial. Burial was in Valley cemetery. Wilbur S. SMITH, 65, of Wellsburg, W. Va., died Thursday, July 14, 1983, following a logging accident. A son of the late Harris and Charlotte LENG SMITH, he was born June 15, 1918, in Washington County. He was self-employed as owner and operator of Pike Vue Nursery and Landscaping in Wellsburg for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Air Force, and was a member of the West Virginia Nurserymen's Association. Surviving are his wife, Virginia COWDEN SMITH; two sons, Dean S. and Neal E. SMITH of Wellsburg; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Ruth) BROWN of Connellsville, Naomi SASSLER of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Mrs. David (Jean) MINDA of Wellsburg; two brothers, Howard SMITH of Burgettstown and George SMITH of Bulger; and eight grandchildren. A brother, Harris SMITH, Jr., is deceased. Funeral services were held last Saturday morning in Wellsburg, W. Va., with pastors David ROGERS and Robert MCGILL officiating. Burial was in Mt. Prospect cemetery, Hickory. Fred PERENIC, 58, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Southview, died Tuesday, July 12, 1983, in Bethesda hospital, Zanesville. A son of Peter and Rose PERENIC, he was born May 26, 1925, in Southview. Mr. PERENIC was employed by McGraw-Edison in Zanesville, and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Marie HOHOWSKI PERENIC; two brothers, Frank PERENIC of Southview, and John PERENIC of Rotonda West, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Tillie) PALMER of Canonsburg and Mrs. Edwin (Pauline) KOSEM of Midway; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Joseph and Peter, and a sister, Rosalie, are deceased. Mrs. Hilda T. MCCARREL, 68, of Washington, died Monday, July 18, 1983, in the Washington hospital. A daughter of Lee N. and C. Alice ROACH THOMAS, she was born December 28, 1914, in Washington. A 1932 graduate of Trinity High School, Mrs. MCCARREL was a member of the Fourth U. P. Church; the Ladies' Aid Society of the church; the Washington Business and Professional Women's Club; Symphony South, and the Women's Democratic Club. She was president of the Daughter of Union Veterans, and was a duplicate bridge player. Very active in the Democratic party, she was a Democratic State Committeewoman and had served six years as jury commissioner. April 19, 1941, she married William Wilson MCCARRELL, who died October 28, 1975. Surviving are two daughters, Diane, wife of B. J. HARVISON of Gambrills, Md., and Susan M., wife of Melvin GLEASON of R. D. 1, Hickory; two sons, William D. MCCARRELL and Wallace A. MCCARREL of Washington; a brother, Harry THOMAS of R. D. 4, Washington; a sister, Arlie LECKENBY of Charleroi; four grandsons, and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Washington in charge of the Rev. Susan E. VANDEKAPPELL, pastor of the Fourth U. P. Church, Washington. Burial was in Washington cemetery. Mrs. Florence G. BRITT, 82, of Hickory, died Monday, July 18, 1983, in the Breese Nursing Home, Claysville. A daughter of Joseph and Nannie REED CRAIG, she was born October 10, 1900, in West Alexander. She was a member of Mt. Prospect U. P. Church, Hickory, and the Hickory Farm Women. Surviving are three daughters, Grace SNEDEKER of Prosperity, and twin daughters, Mary SCHAFER of R. D. 1, Hickory, and Martha MILLER of R. D. 1, Claysville; two sisters, Hazel MAIN of West Alexander and Myrtle MAIN of Claysville; two brothers, Milt CRAIG and Earl CRAIG of West Alexander; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Her husband, William BRITT, died in 1962. Two sisters and four brothers are deceased. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Houston in charge of the Rev. Mead LAYCOCK, pastor of the First Christian Church, Claysville. Burial was in West Alexander cemetery.
