EMERICK, DANIELS, SIMPSON, SPRANDO, JOHNSON Donald James EMERICK, 56, of Bridgeville, (Cecil Township), died Sunday, July 3, 1983, in the Washington hospital. A son of Grace EMERICK of Cecil Township, and the late Alvie EMERICK, he was born August 29, 1926. He graduated from Peters Township High School, served with the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a carpenter for 38 years. He was a member of Upper St. Clair Grange No. 2023. On July 2, 1949, he married Elizabeth GREEN EMERICK, who survives, along with his mother, a daughter, Sylvia Grace WALLACE of Beaver Falls; a son, James R. EMERICK of McMurray; two sisters, Lauretta GREEN of Lone Pine and Jean HOWARD of Peters Township; and a brother Alvie (Spike) EMERICK of McMurray. Funeral services were held the afternoon of July 7 in Bridgeville. Burial was in Jefferson Memorial Park. Rupert Homer DANIELS, 89, of North McDonald street, McDonald, died Monday, July 4, 1983, in the Veterans' hospital, Oakland. A son of Jacob J. and Eva NEW DANIELS, he was born August 3, 1893, in Robinson Township. He served with the U. S. Army in World War I as a horseshoer in the mobile unit, 307th regiment. He was a retired welder for the Marcus Ruth Jerome Co. On July 2, 1919, he married Teresa WHALEN, who survives, along with seven sons, Regis, William, Edward, Richard, and Carl, all of McDonald, Arthur of Pittsburgh, and Paul of Canonsburg; and four daughters, Mildred M. COWDEN, and Flavia LUCARINI of McDonald, Margaret ALBERTINI of Moundsville, W. Va., and Ruth Ann GENTILE of Tarentum; 44 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. A son, Leo, is deceased. Mass of Christian burial was held the morning of July 7 in the St. Alphonsus R. C. Church, McDonald, in charge of the Rev. Francis L. PUCCI. Burial was in Resurrection cemetery, Moon Township. Mrs. Gladys HAMPSON SIMPSON, 62, of Laurel Hill, R. D. 5, McDonald, died Friday, July 8, 1983, in the Canonsburg hospital. A daughter of Joseph and Grace JOHNSON HAMPSON, she was born November 25, 1920, in McDonald. Mrs. SIMPSON was a member of the First U. M. Church, McDonald. She leaves her husband, Robert G. SIMPSON; a son, Terry SIMPSON of Midway; two daughters, Phyllis HOUK of Bentleyville and Robin DUGAN of Imperial; a brother, Walter E. HAMPSON of McDonald; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A brother, Harry HAMPSON, is deceased. Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Frank J. Nation Funeral Home, Inc., McDonald, in charge of the Rev. Deryl K. LARSEN, pastor of the First U. M. Church, McDonald. Burial was in Robinson's Run cemetery. Sam SPRANDO, Jr., 63, of Burgettstown, died Thursday, July 7, 1983. A son of Angelina TESTA SPRANDO of Slovan and Sam SPRANDO, Sr., who is deceased, he was born July 8, 1919, in Smith Township. Mr. SPRANDO was a retired employee of J & L Steel Corp., and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U. S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Burgettstown Senior Citizens and Slovan Italian Club. He was well known in musical circles, having played with a number of area groups and orchestras. Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, Wanda GAVAZZI SPRANDO; a son, Samuel F., at home; two daughters, Joanne Angela, the wife of John SHERGI of Acme, and Sondra Lee, the wife of John DEVITIS of Hickory; two brothers, Albert SPRANDO of Wintersville, Ohio, and Frank SPRANDO of Chicago, Ill.' three sisters, Inez LESKOVITZ of Midway, and Jennie WOJNAR and Bernadine SPRANDO of Slovan; and three grandchildren. A brother, Gene SPRANDO, is deceased. Blessing services were held Monday morning in Burgettstown. Burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery, Burgettstown. William Earl JOHNSON, 77, of Washington, died Saturday, July 9, 1983, in the Washington Hospital Extended Care Facility. A son of William and Emma PRESCOTT JOHNSON, he was born October 11, 1905, in Cecil. He was employed as a driver by the Washington Bus Lines before retiring in 1970. Mr. JOHNSON was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 687 of Washington. Surviving are two sons, William T. JOHNSON of Zephyr Hills, Fla., and Robert C. JOHNSON of Washington; two daughters, Mrs. G. Richard (Alice Irene) RANNEY of Pensacola, Fla., and Mrs. Jack (Linda Diane) ADAMS of Pittsburgh; a brother, Harry E. JOHNSON of Washington; three sisters, Mrs. William (Velma) JORDAN of Midway, and Margaret BOJINSKI and Dorothy HUNTER of Muse; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Gladys Mae SMITH JOHNSON, died in December 1980. Two brothers, George and John JOHNSON, are deceased. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Washington in charge of Dr. Robert E. PEBLEY, pastor of the First Christian Church, Washington. Burial was in Forest Lawn Gardens.
