While doing some digging for another Sprowls, I located an obit for Eva WILLIAMS SPROWLS. (she was born 1893 and died Feb. 1987), was daughter of Stephen WILLIAMS and Sarah A. ROBISON. Well, another mystery unfolded, as I have also been searching for a Sarah A. Robison. *** In searching for articles in the newspaper archives for this WILLIAMS family, I found an article in 1908 stating that stated Stephen Williams, a miner of Monongahela, was killed by a fall of slate on June 9, 1908.*** In going to the 1900 census for Washington Co.,PA, there was a Stephen Williams who lived in Monongahela and was a coal miner, born 1846 VA. and wife was Polly. So this Stephen Williams married to Polly was killed in 1908. ***** I am searching for others who are researching the family of Stephen Williams, who was married to Sarah A. Robison. This daughter Eva was married to Bert Ashur Sprowls - (I know from my research that Bert was son of Samuel Ashur Sprowls and Eliza Slusher. Samuel Ashur Sprowls was son of Jane Sprowls, and father unknown. I "believe" he was illig. and from death cert. was born Aug. 1840 and d. 1906 in the Wash. County home.) I believe this Jane Sprowls to be daughter of Edward Sprowls and Sarah Brown, and would have been a sister to my husbands gr gr grandfather Obadiah Sprowls. According to obit for Eva WILLIAMS SPROWLS, and verified with census data, she had two brothers Leslie Williams and Clay Williams. A sister Ava died in infancy. She had a nephew Raymond L. Williams of Bentleyville, three nieces Mrs. Harry (Mildred) MCCRACKEN of Charleroi, Mrs. Madeline EDMINSON (she was dau. of Elmer Sprowls), and Mrs. Bethel LUTZ. I would like to verify that mother of Eva (Sarah A. Robison) was the Sarah I am searching for. She was born about 1853 in Wash. Co. The mother of MY Sarah were: Elmira (Margaret?) Sprowls, dau. of Edward Sprowls and Sarah Brown. Again, another sister to Obadiah. And father was Philip/Phillip ROBISON who d. about 1857/1858. I believe his first wife Margaret d. 1838, and he had 2 sons William and Philip with this 1st marriage. Sarah A. ROBISON also had a brother H. Clark Robison. Mother and brother are buried in Beallsville Cem. Any Williams or Robison researchers that can help? Thanks, Ruth Sprowls
