Each census but the 1880 one, he states he was born in PA but the 1880 he states Ohio birth and parents born Ireland 1850 W Finley Twsp, Washington Co, PA James Fordyce, age 30, PA, blacksmith Phebe, age 30, PA Melissa, age 9, PA Lydia J, age 7, PA Mary A, age 3, PA Ann E, age 3 mths 1860 E. Finley Twsp, Washington Co, PA James Fordice, age 41, PA, blacksmith Pheby, age 41, PA Liddy, age 17, PA Mary Ann, age 14, PA Anna, age 10, PA Lavina (Lovina), age 8, PA James. age 6, PA George, age 3, PA John, age 1, PA (the son whom married into the Plants family line) 1870 E. Finley Twsp, Washington Co, PA James Fordyce, age 50, PA, blacksmith Phoebe, age 51, PA Margaret, age 23, PA Lavina (Lovina), age 18, PA Harvey (James), age 16, PA George, age 13, PA John, age 11, PA 1880 E Finley Twsp, Washington Co, PA James H Fordyce, age 55, OH, blacksmith, parents born Ireland Nancy, age 55, PA L???? Wolfe, mother in law Mary L Breece, age 11, PA, niece Note James age is different here but that is not unusual when others may be giving the information to the census taker. hope this helps some of you.
