Were James, John and William born in Pennsylvania? Who was their father? Could their father be the John Houston who emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1720-25? According to E. Rankin Huston's History, that John Houston came from Ireland and settled in Gap, Lancaster County. He died in 1760. Is he the same John Houston who lived in Washington, Pennsylvania? I'd appreciate any help on this. I've been trying to track down Thomas Houston, a son of John Houston of Lancaster County. He came to Portsmouth from Virginia, with his father WILLIAM HUSTON, from Frederick County, Virginia. He and his brother JOSEPH were located at Portsmouth, but WILLIAM HUSTON, their father went to Piqua and resided there until his death in 1822. "WILLIAM HUSTON'S wife name was SUSANNAH BOYD, born in Maryland. She came with her husband to Ohio in 1802. They erected a pole cabin, the fourth on the site of Portsmouth. Pages 144-145 Captain SAMUEL HUSTON, Sr.., was born at Winchester, VA., on Sept. 2, 1801. His father WILLIAM HUSTON, was one of the pioneers of Portsmouth and moved to Wayne township in 1802.
