I am currently involved in this process for my daughters. The answer to the DAR accepting proof from previous applications is sometimes. Apparently, this used to be the case, however they have become much more stringent. If you find that an application on this relative has been submitted (the DAR local chapter registrar should be able to get that info) recently (5 - 10 years ago) the chances are good that you will not have to provide proof on those descendants you share in common. At least this is what I am being told from the Registrar of the local chapter who is "mentoring" my process. In a message dated 3/31/2008 3:29:58 P.M. You'll probably have better luck proving parentage using Amos' will, which should name Jonathan as an heir. If Amos died intestate, look for estate records that identify his heirs and state their relationship to the deceased. You might also check DAR/SAR records. Perhaps other descendants of Amos and Jonathan have filed DAR/SAR membership papers, and all you need to do is to prove descent from a person in that already-proved line. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the DAR won't require you to re-prove and line that has already been proved to their satisfaction. Good luck. We need to confirm the parental link for application in the S.A.R. This date of birth was calculated from the date of death on his gravestone and also as listed in the book, "The Tenmile Country and Its Pioneer Families" by Howard L. Leckey. Thank you.
