I have a lot of ancestors who stayed together and intermarried and one of them is my Clark line. They came from England, moved to NJ, then Washington Co., PA and then to central Ohio, primarily Licking and Franklin counties. Anyway, a Sarah J Clark of this line b Oct 1847 OH married a Benjamin B Hays b Aug 1847 OH. His father was a Benjamin Hays b 1814 PA and his mother was Susannah b 1819 OH. The elder Ben is found in the 1860 census in Plain Twp., Franklin Co., OH. Anyway Sarah J Clark descends from my Evans, Clark and French ancestors all of which came from Washington Co., PA. So I'm wondering if Benjamin also came from Washingon, PA and in particular from the family you're discussing. Interestingly if a bit off-topic, Benjamin & Sarah's eldest child, Ida Hays, married a Carl Bates b 1873 from Kansas And my ggrandfather, Kirby Smith Miller, who's from the Evans, Clark, French had a daughter Laura Essie b 1886 who married a Warren Bates. They moved to Kansas and their older child was Carl E Bates b dec 1918. I suppose the two Bates are related, but I have no proof.
