You can also go to the PA State Archives site http://www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us/ has Revolutionary War Military War Abstract Card File. If you find a card with your ancesor's name on it, in the bottom right hand corner you might find some letters and numbers. For example my ancestor has A(6), II, 123. This means that his information is in Series 6, volume 2, page 123 of the PA Archives that are at footnote. It makes it a little easier to find that way.
