In a historic timeline for the Golf Club of Washington is mentioned that it was turned into a temporary hospital during the flu epidemic. Do anyone know of an article about this? Or photos of the Club house? The original owner of this land was Andrew Swearingen; and his daughter Sarah (Swearingen) Cooke lived on the land referred to as "Belmont". Several generations are buried in the Cooke Burial Ground -- which is over the little hill and below the club house today. I believe that the "dwelling" with additions to the Golf Club is located today -- may have been an ancestral home. If anyone can help, please contact me. Thanks so much.
