Hoping someone who lives in Washington County and/or is familiar with the land as it was in the early 1800's may offer a suggestion as to a possible burial site or cemetery. I have copied a brief section from the will of William Keys, a resident of Pikes Run 1805-1815-16. The family immigrated to Washington Co. from No. Ireland in 1805 and were members of Episcopal Church. William and his wife Christine Graham Keys both lived on the land described below. Wm. died in 1815 or 16. I assume Christine died there too. I have not been able to locate where they are buried. Is it possible with these land descriptions that someone might guess of an early cemetery they may be buried? Thank you Barb in Oregon ~~~~ The Will of William Keys “I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Christina during her natural life the land I now live on being the same I purchased from Reasin Bealle. In addition a lot of land to be struck of the tract of land bequeathed to my said wife and part of the tract I purchased of Washington Heaton, bounded as follows: Beginning at the gate now stands north of the house Daniel Bayliss occupies, from hence along the meanders of the _ _ _ to a line of fence known as by the name of the place of Washing of Sheep, thence north, of said line of fence a strait direction until it strikes the line of Wilson’s land thence to follow the line until it strikes the Pittsburgh Road. “ Witnessed by Zeph Bealle George Guttery , William Guttery Signed by Before me Isaac Kerr, Register for Probate, 31 August 1815 _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the old busy.
