If this sounds like your guy, you can check the Washington Reporter and the Washington Observer newspapers for an obit. Both are online in the Google News Archive: http://news.google.com/newspapers#W . No luck on finding a possible death date for Martha. Of the four Martha Mitchells listed in the SSDI with an 1898 birth year, none had a SS# issued in PA or a last residence/last benefit in PA.
