The original Young's, 8 brothers and sisters, came from Scotland to America in the early 1720s, from earliest documents, apparently Quakers to Penn's Colony. Many of them ended up in NJ. The notes gleaned have to do, primarily, those who settled and/or passed through Fallowfield Twp. in the early years toward the Ohio's. There were a few Young's who stayed behind. #321 - pg. 241 - Hercules Young - brother to John who wrote the will. Hercules, Newark MM, Kennett, Chester County, PA, 1742, m. (Feb) Sarah, daughter of James Phillips, relative of John Phillips, they transferred to Woodbridge Quaker MM, NJ in 1746. Mary, sister to Hercules, m. in Woodbridge, 1746. The marriage records of Hercules and sister Anny contain earliest dates of the Young family. They point to Morgan and Mary Young via Philadelphia Quaker records, whose daughter, Mary, was b. Dec. 26, 1690. Hercules Young and Benjamin Hart inventory, Mar. 7, 1763, on the estate of Thom. Throckmorton, Roxbury, NJ. William Young, nephew of Hercules, m. Miriam (Crake) Throckmorton, widow of Thomas. Hercules was one of the earliest of kin to leave NJ for PA and then OH. Hercules, John and Silas Young, signed (1784) a petition re: change of JP location in Washington County, PA. Silas, m. Hannah Carrell. John Young, son in law of Abigail (Harris) Mitchell, who with her brothers, Thomas/George/John Harris, from NJ to Washington County, PA, 1787. John and Silas Young, 1790, and Morgan JR. 1834 - Jacob Young, wife Francis, noted being in Highland County, OH, gave Quit Claim to Hercules Young, land on Paint Creek, Ross County, filed at Chillicothe Land Office, etc. #322 - Thomas Young, yeoman, Pequannock, E. NJ, Morris County, NJ, last of 8 brothers and sisters from Scotland. Arthur, and 4 sons: Thomas, Morgan, Daniel, David, and 6 daughters: Margaret, Elizabeth, Phebe, Mary, Hannah, Thankfull. Mendham Quaker Meeting - several members came from Craigforth, Aberdeen, Scotland, pg. 246. Thomas Young, owned property on Rockaway, River, 1751, 1761. His sister, Mary m. Adam Miller, neighbor. pg. 247 - Arthur, b. July 10, 1744, in Pequannock, Morris County, NJ, son Silas (Arthur's will, 1822) who he lived with, son James, daughter Hannah Little (m. Elias Little), daughter Elizabeth Lindley, grand daughter Elizabeth Bailenss, son Thomas (Arhtur's 96 acres, Dover, Morris County, NJ), Arthur was one of those who signed the "Freeholder of Pequannock" who pledged themselves to the Continental Congress in 1766. Quaker, who contributed to the Rockaway Presbyterian Church. children: James, d. prior to 1822 Hannah, m. Mar. 10, 1797, Elias Little Elizabeth, m. ____Lindley Silas, m. Mary P. Young, 3 children: Harriet W., Arthur, William. Thomas, d. in 1822, m. Susan Berry, 1806, had children: Malinda, Jane, Sarah, John Young. #324 - pg. 248 - Elizabeth Young, b. Feb. 27, 1748, Pequannock, Morris County, NJ, d. May 12, 1794. Married James Lum (b. June 7, 1747, d. May 4, 1805, son of Obadiah) a Revolutionary soldier in Capt. Josiah Hall's Co. of Denville, NJ. He witnessed deed of his wife's cousin, James Young. They lived at Franklin, NJ, 9 children. #325 - pg. 248 - Thomas Young JR, b. Nov. 13, 1752, Pequannock, Morris County, NJ. 1780 on tax list w/brother Arthur, Mendham NJ, earlier at Pequannock. A Thomas Young shows up in Adams County, OH. #326 - pg. 249 - Morgan, son of Thomas, b. Oct. 1752, Morris County NJ. 1822, 80 years old, 1810 - finds them in Luzerne County, PA, Revolutionary soldier (under Capt. Robert Young). #327 - pg. 251 - Daniel Young, son of Thomas and Thankfull, b. Pequannock township, Morris County, NJ, Feb. 20, 1759. Compiler (author) believes that Daniel moved from NJ to PA and then OH, as his brother Morgan and several of his cousins, together with allied families. Believed to be in Jefferson County, OH, then Adams County, OH where he m. the second time. 1st wife - unknown. 2nd wife - Aug. 23, 1825, by Henry Young, JP, to Dorcas Coonrad (Conrad), widow of John Coonrad, West Union, OH. Daniel Young, (Jefferson township, Adams County, OH), paternal grand father of the Hon. John Brooks Young, was a Revolutionary solder in a NJ Regiment. Mitchell ("Mitch") Morrison Young (1855-1942 is noted here also. The Young and Coonrad families came from Washington County, PA. Daniel, b. Sep. 4, 1783, and Morgan are related.
