*Our research goal is to learn where each one of these below-listed POWEL/POWELL men came from and who each one married---not sure Isaac ever did marry. * We do know that Joseph POWELL married Barbara BEAM/BEHM, daughter of Abram and Esther BYERS BEAM. We know that a William POWELL married Elizabeth STILLEY and they moved to Logan Co., OH; our source is a Logan Co., OH online history; that history gives that William POWELL's birth year as 1757 and his death year as 1838 in Bellefontaine, Logan, OH. We know that a William POWELL married Agnes COLVIN and have reason to suspect they, too, might have lived in Logan Co., OH; our source is the Vincent COLVIN will that is online in Washington Co., PA. Dickinson Township, Washington Co., PA Tax Lists found in the Law Office at Courthouse, Washington, Washington Co., PA 1787: William POWELL owned 50 acres and was right next door to Widow POWELL Widow POWELL born when and where unknown; Isaac POWELL born 1766 if this was Isaac's first appearance on any tax list; Isaac was a single man; 1788: William POWELL owner of 50 acres, married man; John POWELL born 1767 if this was John's first appearance on any tax list; John was a married man; Isaac POWELL born 1766 and remained single in 1788; page 142: John BEAM and William POWELL listed as single men but no tax info provided; if they were born 1767, there is conflict between the years of birth for John and this William POWELL unless they were twins; while physically possible to give birth in one year to two separate children, it is unusual; further research necessary. Please note: Widow POWELL is not enumerated on the tax list of 1788. 1789: Isaac POWELL born 1766, still single man; William POWELL born possibly 1767, married man; John POWELL born possibly 1767, married man; Joseph POWELL born 1768, single man. Please note that the William POWELL, owner of 50 acres is no longer in Dickinson Township, Washington County, PA, 1789. It may be of interest to note that in 1783, both Abraham and Jacob BEAM were in Peters Township from which Dickinson Township was formed. We know there was a John POWEL in the area, 1769. John POWEL sold land to a ZIMMERMAN after 1790 or so, and ZIMMERMAN patented the land. We know there was a William POWEL in the area, 1769. As far as we now know, none of these folks ever lived Pitt Township, Allegheny Co., PA. We know there was an Isaac POWEL who lived in proximity to Vincent COLVIN, whose daughter married a William POWEL back in the early days of Washington County. We know that in 1790, all the POWELL folks listed above were in Allegheny County. We can account for Joseph and possibly John. We know that in 1790, Joseph POWELL lived between Widow STILLEY and Jacob BEAM, his brother-in-law.
