Published by: Sanborn & Ruth Young, Los Gatos, CA Ruth Young Orb, Chicago, IL Helen Young Hardy, Barrington, IL and the Compiler Printed at: Durham, NC, USA, 1947 Much of this information has been documented via the will of John Young, NJ Archives, 1st Series, Vol. XXXV, and the research of the individuals so named. The original Young's, 8 brothers and sisters, came from Scotland to America in the early 1720s, from earliest documents, apparently Quakers to Penn's Colony. Many of them ended up in NJ. The notes gleaned have to do, primarily, those who settled and/or passed through Fallowfield Twp. in the early years toward the Ohio's. There were a few Young's who stayed behind. #316 - pg. 232 - Robert Young JR, (believed to be the Capt. Robert Young - under whom it is believed Morgan, son of Thomas Young of Pequannock, NJ and James Young served in the Revolution. #317 - pg. 232 - Silas Young, Quaker, b. Feb. 20, 1773, Mendham, became Randolph township, Morris County, NJ. (This one stayed in NJ) Connections to Carrell family. pg. 236 - Miller-Young families (NJ) Conrad Miller, Mt. Hope, Pequannock, NJ, 1796. Adam Miller, Sep. 19, 1761, sold Hartshorn Estate to Thomas Young, Morris City, Beaver Brook of Rockaway River, NJ. Allied families: Miller, Young, Losey, Dunham, Denham, Beers, Pierson, Talmadge. #319 - pg. 237 - Margaret Young - Carrel, sister to John (wrote will) m. Daniel Carrel, children included: Mary, Peggy, Hannah, Daniel, Hercules - Friends Meeting House, Dover NJ. Daniel Carrell came to America from N. Ireland in 1730, settled in VA. 1732 purchased land in Dover NJ, where homestead held by descendents till 1902. He m. Margaret. Mary, b. 1753, was one of the children, one of 7. She m. Moses KERR, recorded by G.M in 1809, G.M. was Gertrude Moodey, great grand daughter of Moses and Mary (Carrell) Kerr. Daniel "Carle", deed, 1770, purchased of Samuel Smith of Burlington, NJ and Joseph Pemberton of Philadelphia PA, begins at corner of Morgan Young's land, surveyed to Joseph Kirkbride. (Neighbors) Histo of Morris County, NJ, "a family by the name of Young's, consisting of Robert, Mitchell, and John Youngs, settled on Carrell property where Lawrence Dalrymple (1882) later lived, but they left no descendents in the township." John bought property of Morgan (father), once Carrell land. Mitchell Young, son of John noted. Daniel Carrell's will (Trenton, NJ, 648-N), Oct. 8, 1785, proved Jan. 17, 1786, Morristown, NJ, testified: John and Hannah Young, James Carrell, Administrator, Nathan Simcock, John and Hannah were witnesses, Execu's - Friend Brotherton and son James. 8 children: James (eldest), Thomas, Daniel and Hercules, Elizabeth, Mary, Hannah, Sarah, (Peggy?). Daniel Carrell, Morgan Young, Nathan Simcock, witnesses, will of Thomas Young, brother of John and Margaret Young Carrell. Another researcher noted: James; Daniel m. Jane Clutter, daughter of William and Mary (Niblack) Clutter. Daniel, b. 1745, had 10 children; and have Baird, Dalrymple, Cooper, Smith, Baker, Hulbert, Bryant, Logan, Snelling, Hoagland, Searing, Toms, Day family connections. pg. 239 - Thomas, Daniel, and Hercules Carrell are noted as being in Fallowfield township - 1790. Thomas Carrell, William Young and Andrew Bryant witness of William Olliver's will. Thomas, d. 1825, wife Elizabeth Richey, their children were: James, Daniel, Hannah, Thomas, John, Stephen, and Hercules Carrell. Thomas Carrell JR, m. 1805, PA, Hannah KERR (1st cousin), daughter of Moses and Mary (Carrell) Kerr. Hercules - b. 1773, d. Jan. 1, 1886, m. Sarah Wheeler, d. 1824., believed to have 16 children, James m. June Todd, d. Jan. 13, 1886. Hercules, and brother Thomas (1812) witnessed sale of property by Silas Young, husband of Hannah Carrell, their sister, (Wash. PA). Elizabeth, in father's will. Mary - pg. 242 - b. May 4, 1753, d. July 29, 1832, buried Mentor, OH. She m. Moses Kerr, b. Apr. 29, 1763, d. Oct. 4, 1834, lived near Pittsburgh, PA, before moving to OH. Washington PA records show sale of land in 1810 by Silas Young to Moses Carr (Kerr). Silas Young was brother in law of Hannah Kerr who m. Thomas Carrell. Descendants of Thomas and Hannah Carrell spelled their name Carroll. Kerr's Mill, now Fredericktown, OH - is named for this family = Moses and Mary, who had 6 children, and have Moodey, Carrell, Chapin, Paine, Cass, Lawrence and Gray family connections. Hannah - pg. 241 - m. Silas Young, living in Fallowfield township, 1797, family moved to Geauga County, OH. On Oct. 30, 1810, Silas and Hannah of Geauga Co. OH sold to Moses Carr (Kerr) his property in Washington County, PA (Record Book I-V), pg. 241) Hercules and Thomas Carrell were witnesses to this. The land was warranted to Silas Young, Jan. 16, 1797. Anny Young - pg. 241 - sister to John, who made her son, John Clarke, JR (in will) joined the Newark (Kennett) Quaker Meeting, Chester County, PA. 1742, John Clark m. Anny. At some point the family moved to NJ (Woodbridge Meeting NJ) 1749. John and Hannah Young were neighbors to John Clark in Hanover township, Morris County, NJ. John was a nephew to Anny Clarke.
