Paulina was born in Poland 1902 and toni Semon was born in Poland 1898. Apolonia, my Aunt was born here in 1910 and my mother in 1911. She would of had to leave her son at one month. Toni listed his mother, Mary S.....(blacked out) not a good copy,as the closest relation left in Poland on the ship manifest in 1913. Paulina listed Wladislaw, he might of been a half brother by Jacob Semon. Mary S. only lists 4 children, at the time of my Mothers birth two by first marriage and two by Nawoj, 2 more after my Mother, in Poland. I go round and round checking out other relations. I know Mary Semon was a Kocaj, because Toni Semon's Uncle was a Kocaj in Pa. I thank you for your answer. Virginia Tomon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. By the time Tony and Paulina came, she was back in Poland sometime after 1911, my Mother was born in Weirton W.V. in Nov. 1911). Or the name KOCAJ,my maternal Grandmother's maiden name? All immigrated in the early 1900's and had extended families here. Especially interested in Mary Kocaj, my grandmother. She married Antoni Nawoj in 1909 in Washington and on the 1910 census was living in Washington and it said that she immigrated in 1907, but no luck anywhere!! This goes back to Francis Preston Blair and his wife Violet Gist who was the granddaughter of Christopher Gist. Christopher Gist lived just south of Stuarts Crossing near Uniontown. It was Francis Preston Blair who nominated explorer John C Fremont from California. The problem was, John C Fremont, a Catholic, was so anti slavery that even Abraham Lincoln didn't like him. So Abraham Lincoln skipped the Pittsburgh Republican convention of Feb 1856. Of course Thomas Mellon was close friends with the Lincolns and was recorded as such by writer David McCullough in his book The Johnstown Flood. I have spent years researching the Myers, Gist and Gratz families of Ft Myers in Lee County Florida. They were the main suppliers of the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh in 1803. My family is buried in the Lewis and Clark Cemetery Lot at Versailles Cemetery in McKeesport. It's lot D32. So now it just what you want to believe. I dont think that the Preston is the same, but who knows could be a cousin down the line. My Preston family was big into the Oil production. Some say they owned Preston Oil Co and later sold it off. My family lived in Buffalo, PA and Rochester,Ny and would travel back and forth during the oil days. Many of the Prestons and Burns family remained in PA and lived out there lives. Some are buried in St Boniventure Cemetery, Knapp Creek area. I would love to learn more about that part of the family. Would you know more on the oil fields during the late 1800's thru the early 1900's. Not found much on Ancestry on this part. Thanks for sharing. It's the Preston family that tell me they might be related to Fransis Preston Blair who nominated John C Fremont as the Republican nominee for President in 1856 at the Pittsburgh Republican Convention around Feb 1856 on the Anti-Slavery Ticket. The anti-slavery movement was very big in Rochester NY with Frederick Douglas who is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery. My family was related to Catholic Bishop Stephen V Ryan the Bishop of Buffalo NY. They lived in Pittsburgh but traved the Pittsburgh Buffalo road that goes right through the oil fields of Oil City. The Prestons I believe would be related to Col Coffey, a supply officer during the Revolution but that's a guess. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Thanks for this article. I found it interesting to read-- and discovered I have some ties to the early institution- I am tied to the RITCHIE family thru the marriage of Craig and Mary Ann's son, William H S RITCHIE, who married Sarah Jane MILLER, daughter of Thomas MILLER and Ann REED. Ann REED's mother was an aunt of mine- I also have blood ties to the James RITCHIE family of Allegheny Co. I have not tied Craig to James, but I wonder if there is a connection? James's father, William John RITCHIE was b in County Derry, Ireland and died 1855 in Allegheny Co. I am also tied to the Wesley GREER family thru the marriage of his son to a cousin of mine. A note of interest is the RITCHIE and GREER families were tied together thru the blood of my 5g grandfather- James GLENN. annie

I have been told that his land is in the park. A house wasn't mentioned. It was inherited by Julia Ann Leyda Clark, w/o his son David. These guys are in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. My question is, Robert's parents are reputed to be John Clark and Margaret McIntyre. I have never found verifiable evidence of where they lived. John Clark bought land in Nottingham Twp. but that is all I know. It could be either the same land Robert and heirs lived on or next to it. John bought from James Ferrol. Casebear is one boundary, Paramour is one boundary, James McCready (hard to read)another. Robert and and Andrew M. Clark bought from William Parkinson (estate)with additional parcels over the years. Robert's son Andrew is the one with headstone out in the field. He he. Thanks for your comments. I wonder if John and Margaret might be in the Mingo Creek Cemetery. I believe her father to be William Fowler, but have no proof and don't know a mother's name either. She married Smith Mahorney on 25 Sept. 1856. This would tie me into the Hawkins lineage as well. 2. J.A. Florian
    3. The reason I posted this is because as researchers need to know news that may (might) affect us in the future. In today's world, almost every bad behavior results in some new 'law'. Several people replied to me saying the Index is public to prevent fraud. Yes, I know. But, obviously, the IRS didn't waste their time to do basic look-ups and instead, wasted many thousands in tax dollars (hundreds of thousands). And because the police did not even bring up that the IRS is the main issue in this situation (not ancestry), I bet that within the near future some politician will introduce a new bill to remove the data from the Internet. Also, even the officer who was a victim discovered that the IRS won't give info to the "victim"-- even a police officer! (dumb in my opinion) However, I also believe that we as researchers and guardians of our family's info must strive to keep our family info safe(R) as much as we can. So I posted the news item so we can all be more aware of what goes on with the misuse of identifying info. Judy On Tue, Sep 6, 2011 at 11:11 PM, J.A.
