I have a list of veteran burials from Washington Co that was done in the 1930s but I didn't see Robert Hewitt listed. Your Amos Walton is there. He was given bounty lands for service during the war (yes he was considered a Rev War participant.) The card underneath his bounty certificate lists his company and battalion. In the lower right hand corner of the card you will see A(6), II, 120. This is the series, volume and page number of the Pennsylvania Archives that his service is listed. If you got to footnote.com at http://www.footnote.com/ and chose "browse all titles", then Revolution: 1775-1815,then Pennsylvania Archives (free), then your series, volume and page number, you'll find his information. Make sure you look at other pages before and after page 120 as he may be in there again or you may find out more about his company and battalion and other people that served with him. You can use this as proof of his service if you are trying to get into DAR or SAR. You might want to get a copy! of the documents pertaining to the bounty land he was given as well. That could be interesting. Good luck Deb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Cuz, When I'm working on these names I always like to send to the lists, instead of in private, for there are so many learned and experienced GENI's out there, that are also working on these names. Just a mention of a date, name etc, can open many doors for all our other cuz's working on their charts. I haven't worked on ELIZABETH BETSEY FOX, interesting that both of her grandfather's fought in The Revolutionary War. Would you please send to me the obit that you mentioned? CARPE DIEM, Lori >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hi Lori, Glad to hear from a fellow FOX cousin! The Joseph Newton and Martin Peter you have sound like what I have. The dates are almost the same. How are they related to the John Peter FOX II you mentioned? I have an obit for Elizabeth Betsy FOX that states she had two grandfathers in the Revolutionary War. And, one of them was decorated by George Washington at Valley Forge!! So, did you find anything on the other names listed on her (Elizabeth Betsey FOX) death record for her parents? I think that the Martin FOX and Nancy MARTIN are the correct parents for her, but I'm trying to verify it. She was 91 when she died, maybe they got it wrong. I have a Peter Martin b. abt 1771 in Maryland for Nancy’s father. There sure are a lot of Peters and Martins in that family. It must have been a popular name. I am also familiar with the name change FOX/FUCHS. I was trying to connect Joseph to father, Isaac FOX and his father Johannes John Peter FOX (FOX I) as I found it on WorldConnect. Well, that was speedy! I appreciate your responses. My father didn't know his paternal grandparents and my cousin says our grandfather didn't talk much at all let alone about his family. Their father died in the Civil War and they had a very hard time as 7 children were left. My grandfather was 3 yrs old and then there was a baby, Martha (Mattie) Crow Plants. Crow/e, Stollar, Plants, Sprowls, Moore, Ealy, Noble is our "roll call". By DNA we are supposedly the German species of Crow so there might be a language problem, also. There were Irish, English and German Crow families in Washington Co in the late 1700s. We have eliminated the Jacob Gro/Crow Richhill Twn, Greene Co PA line by DNA so that narrows the field considerably. I was just feeling that maybe there aren't any records before the 1850 Washington Co census which lists the family members and then the earlier census' that don't. Another question : ) What would you make of this "Supposed White" and "Native" on Phillip Crow. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=3363855&Type=Death Maybe we are of the "original" Crows!! Doris My cousin in PA is 94 and WISHES she had ask more questions as she knew all our cousins. I live in California so do my looking online. --- Ed Bickham <bick333@msn.com> wrote: > Why don't you post the info you are looking for on > this forum. may be someone with the information! > Ed > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Doris > Greaves<mailto:doris_greaves@sbcglobal.net> > To: > PAWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PAWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com> > > Sent: Thursday, November 08, 2007 7:51 PM > Subject: Re: [PAWASHIN] Hypothetical Question > > > I have a hypothetical question for anyone or > everyone, > please! > I've been searching for my Paternal GGGrandparents > forever....I'm wondering if all the heads of > households of my ancestors were tenant farmers and > never owned any land would they have any records > anywhere. I have a hypothetical question for anyone or everyone, please! I've been searching for my Paternal GGGrandparents forever....I'm wondering if all the heads of households of my ancestors were tenant farmers and never owned any land would they have any records anywhere. Would they be on tax lists and would they even have wills? Then, if they had no money, would they even have had tombstones. One knows they lived, I'm here! I hope someone will be able to do a Obit look up for me. The person is Elizabeth "Lizzie" McDonald. She was born in 1866 in Cameron, Marshall County, West Virginia and died in 1940 in West Finley, Pennsylvania and buried in a cemetery near West Alexander, Pennsylvania. I am interested in learning the names of her children and the names of her parents. I think her father was August Wendt. Thanks for any help, it would be appreciated. Are these two seperate cemeteries or one referred to in two ways? Also are early wills/administrations [1843] recorded in deed books? Thanks for help. Juanita
