I am in search of any connection one might have with the Richardson and Kennedy families. I have my ggrandfather Wayne Kennedy Richardson living beside a John Kennedy in Allen Township, Washington County, in the 1880 census. Wayne was born in 1854 in PA. I also have a Richardson living beside a Kennedy in Butler County in a census around 1850. My quest is to find Wayne's father or my gggrandfather. I am following the hunch that since Wayne had the middle name of Kennedy that his mother may of been a Kennedy. Also, He named his first daughter, Laura Isabelle, and I think there was an Isabelle Kennedy that married a Joseph Richardson. Wayne named two of his children Milton. His first son, John Milton, and his last son, Milton Dewey. There was a Milton Kennedy listed in the household of that 1850 census mentioned above. Have hit a brick wall concerning Wayne or his existence before 1880. Although I do have some information concerning his membership in the Coal Center Methodist Church, Roscoe, Washington County area, relating to that time frame. Any help would be very much appreciated. I am sure many of you reading this have remembered my same delima over the past few years. John Bush (1819-1886; most likely Henry's bro) was a coal miner, living with his wife Emaline and their family in West Pike Run township in 1850 with the following children: Joseph (ca 1840); Martha (ca 1841); Benjamin (ca 1845); Joshua or Josiah (ca 1847); and Margaret (Elizabeth... ca.1850). Ten years later, they were living in Carroll T., near Monongahela. Bejamin was not listed. Children born since the 1850 census included William, Pamelia, Noah, and Edward. A big family. In the 1850 census, Elizabeth was listed as Margaret, but the birth dates are the same. By 1880, the family had grown even larger to include Mary M. (ca. 1871), Joseph (cca. 1873), Hettie F. (ca. 1876), and Frederick (1879). This makes me think that Frederick B. of Greene County was Henry and John Bush's father, and possibly, their mother was an Irish woman named Margaret (1797). I found Margaret Bush (born Ireland 1797), with her children Margaret and Thomas H (both born 1832 in PA), living in New York City, in a ward with many foreign borns, especially Irish. If her late husband was landless, she may have returned to be near family and friends, living in the city, with her youngest children. I cannot find Henry (or close to it) Bush anywhere else in the USA in 1850 but here. See the repetition of family names? Speaking of Margaret, In my first post, did I note that Henry and Elizabeth's only daughter was named Margaret (1854)? I'll keep this in mind, and if I find something, I will let you know. Abusing his mother for not having a good meal prepared as he thought she should have, Norval MCCLAIN was given a hearing Wednesday morning before Justice of the Peace COOK on a charge of assault and battery and default of paying a fine of $10 was sent to the county jail for 30 days. MCCLAIN, who is about 30 years of age, was said to have been drinking heavily Tuesday. Tuesday evening he went to his home about time for the evening meal. Angry because he did not think the eatables were good enough he struck his mother, Mrs. Katherine MCCLAIN and attempted to choke her. The mother with the assistance of a daughter succeeded in driving him away from the house. Mrs. MCCLAIN later went before Justice of the Peace COOK and preferred charges of assault and battery. MCCLAIN is said to have misused his mother on other occasions.
MCGINLEY, KENLEISDES Neil A. MCGINLEY, aged 53, formerly a hotel and businessman in Braddock, McDonald, Cumberland and Monessen, died at this home in Monessen on Saturday, January 7, 15 12:10 p.m. Mr. MCGINLEY was born in Johnstown and in 1872 went to Braddock, where for 15 years he was employed as a heater in the Edgar-Thompson Steel Works. In 1893 he engaged in the hotel business in Braddock and three years later moved to McDonald, where he conducted the Buchheit Hotel. Three years later he went to Cumberland where he engaged in the wholesale liquor business. In 1900 he returned to Braddock, where for five years he conducted the Hotel Lloyd. Five years ago he moved to Monessen where he was proprietor of the Merchant Hotel until the time of his death. Mr. MCGINLEY was a member of the Catholic Church, the Pittsburgh Lodge of Elks and the Monessen Aerie of Eagles. Twenty seven years ago Mr. MCGINLEY married Miss Jane CROTTY of Titusville, who with four children, Charles of Monessen, Howard, Miss Mary C., and Miss Marcella MCGINELY, all at home, and one brother and three sisters, survive. Funeral services were held at St. Leonard's Roman Catholic Church, Monessen, Pa., on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was made at Braddock. Using several short pieces of twine where a razor and a revolver had failed, Thomas KENLEISDES, age 53 years, succeeded in ending his life after two other attempts had proved fruitless. Just what led the man to suicide is unknown although it is believed that despondency coupled with a belief that he had numerous enemies was responsible for the rash act. KENLESIDES was employed as a fire boss in the Bishop mine of the Pittsburg Coal company and resided at Cecil. The past two weeks the mine has been closed and KENLESIDES had appeared greatly depressed because he was without work Monday morning, however he seemed more cheerful and talked with his wife in a happy manner. About 1 o'clock in the afternoon he went to the cellar in his house saying nothing to his wife of his purpose. Some time later when he failed to return Mrs. KENLESIDES went down stairs to investigate. When she entered the cellar she came upon the body of her husband swinging from a joist. Almost frantic the woman rushed from the house and summoned aid. The body was cut down and Dr. Q. S. KOCKER summoned, but the man was dead. An investigation showed that KENLESIDED had taken four strands of small twine and carefully making a noose had fitted the twine about his neck after tying one end to the joist. He then stepped from one of the lower steps of the cellar stairway. Two years ago KENLESIDES made a desperate attempt to take his life, using a razor with awful effect. He recovered from his self-inflicted wounds, however. A few weeks ago he attempted to borrow a revolver from one of his friends but the friend, noticing KENLESIDES' depressed condition refused the weapon. Recently KENLESIDES had frequently talked to his wife about supposed enemies who he said we after him. It is believed this was an hallucination as the dead man was well known and generally liked. His wife feared he might take another attempt on his life and since the closing down of the mine had watched him closely. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock the interment was made in the Melrose cemetery in Bridgeville.

William MALONEY of Steubenville, Ohio, shooter for the Ohio Torpedo Co., of Steubenville, was the victim of a disastrous and fatal accident that occurred Tuesday morning at ten o'clock near Cross Creek on the farm of the DUNBAR Bros., where had gone to shoot a well. Geo. HANST, who was an eye-witness, tells the story about as follows: Mr. MALONEY came to the well at ten o'clock and said he wanted to shoot right away. He at once commenced to make preparations. He was the only one about except Mr. HANST who was working several hundred feet away. Mr. HANST saw the shooter carry one can of nitro-glycerin from the wagon to the well and return for another. As he was lifting the second can from the wagon the explosion occurred. Whether the can slipped from MALONEY's hand or he scraped it against another leaking can Mr. HANST does not know. The shooter William MALONEY was blown into little pieces, scattered for hundreds of feet around, and Mr. HANST several hundred feet away, was thrown from his feet and knocked unconscious for several minutes. When he realized what had happened HANST made an investigation only to find that the wagon with its contents and the shooter had been torn into atoms by the explosion. Soon a crowd gathered and the excitement ran very high. The farm is a short distance from Cross Creek and the townspeople gathered rapidly at the scene of the accident. The horses, luckily, had been unhitched and tied on the other side of the well from where the explosion happened, and were not hurt with the exception of a few cuts from flying debris. William MALONEY leaves a wife. He worked for the same firm, and was a former business partner of Frank MCCULLOUGH who was killed May 10 last in a similar explosion north of Burgettstown on the TENAN farm.
A defective flue is believed to have been the cause of a fire about 7 o'clock Tuesday evening which did damage to the amount of $1,500 to the parsonage of the First Presbyterian church on Station street and the household goods of the Rev. J. P. JORDAN. The Rev. Mr. JORDAN and family while eating dinner Tuesday evening were attracted by the smell of smoke. A son went out on the porch to see where the fumes were coming from and discovered the whole upper portion of the parsonage ablaze. An alarm was sent in the McDonald volunteer department which soon arrived on the upper portion of the house, but it required nearly two hours work before the blaze was completely put out. The roof was practically burned off but the fire was kept from getting into the second story except in a few places, where it burned through the ceiling. The household goods of the JORDAN family were not greatly damaged by the fire but the loss will be heavy from the damage done by the water, which swamped the house from top to bottom.

My grandfathers fraternal grandparents are buried there. I have JPG pictures of some of these tombstones. His gm was Mary Bush 1829 - 1880 who married James Gillen 1829-1896. Their daughter Margaret Gillen 1855 married Joshua Bush 1847 - 1930 both buried at Ginger Hill. Joshua and Margaret's son was Charles H. Bush 1873 - 1878. Margaret Gillen's siblings were Frank M. Gillen my ggf (who married Dora Belle Gwynn and lived in Monongahela and in Fayette County in or near Belle Vernon), and Wilson Gillen 1852 - 1914 buried at Ginger Hill. I couldn't find an Ames or Bush in Odell's book on early VA settlers but I did find a John Bushong who bought 216 acres near Woodstock on the North Fork Shenandoah from William Rogers in 1778. Perhaps John dropped the ending of the name to make it more pronounceable. My gf George and ggf Frank M. Gillen are shown in an early 1910's newpaper picture working at the glass plant in Belle Vernon. My gm was a Perkins from Fayette City and had other siblings who lived in Fayette County. Jan. 04, 1801 in Washington County, Pennsylvania and d. Oct. 23, 1876 in Noble County, Indiana. Also looking for information about his wife Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter b. May 02, 1806 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. They were married in Muskigum County, Ohio March 26, 1828. The info. I have about them so far is where they were born, married, and died. Margaret's maiden name seems to be McWhorter or MeWhorter according to thier marriage record. They were living in Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio in 1840 and then in 1845 Wyandot County, Ohio was formed and the portion of Salt Rock township, Marion County, Ohio that James and Margaret lived in became Antrim townshiip, Wyandot County, Ohio where they are listed in the 1850 census as James and Margaret McWherter. My 4rth Great-Grandfather James M. Mawhorter (1833-1897) a son of James and Margaret mentions in his obituary that he came to Noble County, Indiana in 1853 with his parents, about the time they seemed to change the spelling of the name from McWhorter to Mawhorter. I believe the surename name was changed becouse James and Margaret may have been inbred (Relatives of the same surename who married each other). James and Margaret were living in Elkhart township, Noble County, Indiana in ! the 1860 census. I don't have access to any Courthouses or libraries in Pennsylvania or Ohio being so far away, so I figured I'd post on message boards. Specific information I'm looking for is, 1. Where were they between 1829 - 1839 ? 2. Also looking for any information about them in Washington County, Pennsylvania? 3. Where were they in Washington County, Pennsylvania and who were their parent's were? One assumption about who I think James parent's were is how he named his children. But I'm looking for a recorded document from a courthouse or library to prove it. I think his parent's may have been John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early. Here's my assumption why I think John McWhorter and Hannah Polly Early may have been his parent's. James Mawhorter/McWhorter and Margaret Mawhorter/McWhorter children 1. Kilborn (first born, named becouse his father John died in 1803 after James was born in 1801.) 2. James M. (named after himself) 3. John (named after James's father John) 4. William (named after James's Grandfather William McWhorter b. 1745 in Bucks County, PA.) 5. Robert (named after James's Great-Grandfather Robert McWhorter b. abt.1700 who married Sarah Johnston) 6. Adeline (?????) 7. Caroline (????) 8. Aaron "also spelled Marion in 1860" (??????) 9. Margaret E. (named after James's wife Margaret) 10. I am researching Isaac HULL of Butler Co., OH. He appears in the Butler USCensus in 1820 & 1830. He was perhaps the Isaac HULL who was in the USCensus in Fayette Co., PA in 1790, 1800 & 1810. NEED PARENTS NAMES & THEIR RESIDENCE LOCATION before & after 1758. He was born 1758 in Lancaster Co., PA, d. 1833 in Butler Co., OH. He served in the Revolutionary War & in his pension papers he states his birthplace, and places where he had lived, which were Lancaster & Washington Co's., PA; Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD; Winchester (Independent City), VA; & Butler Co., OH. He does not mention Fayette Co., PA, but one probably son stated he was born there. Isaac perhaps immigrated to OH in January 1819 at the same time his probable son Abraham immigrated. We know at the time of his death he was married to Susan. We think she was his second wife. WHAT WAS SUSAN's MAIDEN NAME? If he had a previous marriage, WHAT WAS HER NAME? NEED PROOF OF HIS CHILDREN. Have not found a will or probate file in Butler Co where he died for him nor for his widow Susan. Sending separate memo with his probable family. Donna Hull, CA
