    3. I've been researching information on the daughter of C. H. Chandler of Charleroi who m. Lawrence C. Phipps. From what I have so far, I have the date of 1898 as the day that they m. in Charleroi, but have not found any other information pertaining to this. They were moving in high society circles and would presume that they had a substantial wedding announcement somewhere. (?) Besides checking at the courthouse, does anyone have any other suggestions re: where to look for earlier wedding articles? Thanks, nacs ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a private communication. 3. Charges Against LESNESKI Nol-Prossed The Washington County Courts on June 6 nol-prossed all charges against Brian LESNESKI, 22, of R. D. 1, Bulger, who was linked with the incident in February in which Jeffrey Alan WILEY, 26, of R. D. 4, McDonald, was shot to death by John ROMAN, 68, of R. D. 1, Imperial. The shooting took place February 15 in a mobile home near Candor when ROMAN was summoned from his tavern on Old Route 22 by his granddaughter who was alone in the mobile home. She stated that she heard someone prowling around outside. He advised her to keep the place locked and he would be over. Mr. ROMAN brought a gun with him and upon entering the trailer found a man sitting in the living room and heard his granddaughter screaming in a bed room. He rushed to the bedroom and found a man and his granddaughter. The man lunged at him and ROMAN fired one shot. The man kept coming at him and ROMAN fired a second shot. The man ROMAN saw in the livingroom fled the scene. The man in the bedroom and at whom ROMAN fired turned out to be WILEY who was killed by the bullets. The man who fled the scene was LESNESKI. In the court findings, signed by Judge John BELL, it was determined that LESNESKI was at the scene at the time but had no knowledge that any crime was being committed. All charges against him were nol-prossed in the June 6 court action which stated that there was insufficient evidence to hold him on any of the charges, namely burglary, criminal conspiracy, and complicity.

    2. Laura, I am intrigued with your data on ANDERSON. 1. A cousin is Anderson from sw region of PA area.2. She is also Huffman/Hoffman. Stewart especially James Stewart kin married into these families. I see other names that were in these files that married into and made HUFFMAN HOFFMAN descendantns. I am going to send this to cousin in IOWA and hopefully she may make sense of it. FYI 2 of JAMES STEWARTs children ma into this Huffman HOFFMAN lineage proven and suspect four others did in Greene Co also as siblings of James. I was doing STEWART research and turned from it to track my direct line more. But there is always so much more to learn when one does collateral lineages. Susi TO WHOM EVER was looking for the Cemetery in West Alexander, it is on Helen's and my site. http://www.ourfamilyhistories.com/ IT was between Helens home with her parents and the school the children went to when I visited in 94. 1. [PAWASHIN] Rev. War Pension, James Anderson, 1752-1833
    2. Laura Anderson
    3. It has come to my attention that this James Anderson might very well NOT be who I thought he was! Based on a Sons of the Revolution membership cited in the California Sons of the Revolution, I thought this was James Anderson, b. abt 1762, son of Capt. Patrick Anderson & Elizabeth Morris of Chester County, PA. In light of new (to me) evidence, I do not think this man is the son of Capt. Patrick Anderson. I have spent a few days gathering more info and I thought since it was really such interesting data that I would share it here. If anyone can add to this or correct me if I am wrong I would appreciate it. This is my transcription from the Rev. War Pension papers, as seen at www.footnotes.com, regarding this James Anderson. Some is verbatim, in quotation marks, and most is paraphrased by me. There are at 50 pages about this guy, or so it seemed at the time: James Anderson born 8 March 1752, London Grove twp, Chester Co., PA died 29 March 1833, Hopewell twp, Washington Co., PA 1st term in the Rev. War - Served under Col. William Montgomery, Lt. Col. Evan Evans, Maj. David McKay or McKee [his words], Capt. Thomas Strawbridge and Dr. Gardener, in Chester County. The last week of June, 1776 "if I recollect aright" marched to a place in New Jersey opposite Staten Island called Blazing Star. Stayed there till a few days after the Battle of Long Island. Then the men were discharged and went home to Chester County. 2nd term in the Rev. War - Chester County Militia, he thinks the 4th Company, commanded by Capt. John McKee. Marched about the last of September, 1777. Regiment commanded by Col. William Montgomery, Lt. Col. Evan Evans, Maj. David McKay, Capts. John Ramsey, Allen Cunningham, etc. Marched to White Marsh and joined the main army under Gen. George Washington the evening after the Battle of Germantown. Their regiment was placed under immediate command of Col. William Evans, Lt. Col. ___ Bremen and Maj. McKay. 2 or 3 days later James Anderson was wounded in the head by the fall of a tree. Warden of Trenton, MO requesting his pension paperwork. This was a most interesting bunch of papers with more information contained within than I have seen in most Rev. War pension applications. Most of it was quite legible too! What a bonus! Hope this helps someone. Laura

    3. Some people may not believe in how our deceased family "help" us know about other living family, but I thought I'd share this story.... (By the way, don't think I'm crazy--lol) As some background... My grandmother died in 2000; my grandfather died in 1983 or '84. They did have a son--but he died when a baby. I don't remember an exact date (late Dec? early Jan?.... I had the following dream.... I'd gone to my grandma's house, but her "son" had taken all her belongings and would not let grandma in... I told him to move--and I unlocked the front door. Grandma was walking up the green porch (just as I remembered her before, in her spring coat and dress). As we entered the rooms, that "son" /grown man just kind of disappeared somewhere...my focus was on grandma. We walked to the kitchen and she was giving me genealogy stuff to take ... a certificate of the Dague family [note: I've never been able to prove the connection]. Then she handed me a picture frame with 3 photos --each of very 3 young teens/women...I said "Who's that? (young woman, right photo). Grandma (old woman with wrinkles) said (eyes twinkling) "That's ME!" (She was very beautiful when young). "Who's this (center photo)"? "That's Sarah" (and I knew she meant Sarah Lutes). "Who's that?(pointing to the left photo) "That's ___ (she said a name, but I didn't catch it...) Grandma continued: "You HAVE to find ___ " (I didn't hear or understand what she said, and I wanted to know so bad !) "WHO is it?" I asked again....... "You HAVE to find (words unclear).... missing (words unclear).... .... you remember I told you (words unclear).... ......... Right then (in real life ), my doorbell rang ---- and woke me up! I told my visitor I wished she'd been 10 minutes late so I could have finished my dream! Dang! I have "dead people" (family) dreams a lot. And usually it means someone in our family is ill, is dying, or has died. So with this dream, I worried about 2 older close family (females) ... I called one older cousin but her son said she was ok. I forgot about the dream. Today I called my older cousin back... and told her the dream (my grandma is her aunt). And... she says... WHEN did you dream that??? Well......my cousin and I think my dream was about Vernon Hayden and how he was (then) "missing." Now some more family background ... Charlotte Lutes died during childbirth, leaving Sarah Lutes, James Lutes, and Laura Lutes. My great grandma Flora Wynona Waller Lane (mother of the grandma I dream about), took Charlotte's kids and raised them as her own. So my grandma lived with her bro. Roy, sis Vesta... and Sarah, Laura and James Lutes. The 3 Lutes were like "little" siblings to my grandma. Laura married (I think Vernon) Hayden. He had a son (also called) Vernon (Vernon W.--the one who was killed.) Grandma talked to me ALL the time about the Lutes (Greene Co) and the Hayden families. So back to my dream... the last photo would have been Laura Lutes Hayden! I kind of suspect (now) that the "son/ grown man" was my mind's way of saying Laura's grandson (might be a stretch, but it fits). I never knew/saw him so my dream was trying to give some relationship for this man. And Grandma was telling me to find (someone) because the grandson had murdered his granddad (Vernon) and hid the body... then the grson "disappeared." I tell this story because I do believe our deceased family members stay connected to us. I only wish the "communication" they make was clearer than strange dreams that don't make immediate sense! I look forward to dreaming again of my grandma or sister--- but I do hope it won't be about another death. (And, I hope no one thinks I'm nuts -- LOL) If you're related to Hayden, I don't have a lot on them. I have more about the Lutes - Lane side. Thanks to everyone who pointed me to articles. I should have Googled, but I didn't realize that the story was so big that even the Associated Press wrote about it. Such a sad story.
