List, I'm trying to find m ggg grandmother's, Nancy Simpson's, maiden name. She's in the 1840-1880 census for East Bethlehem Township married to Hiram W. Simpson. Could also be H.W. Simpson, or William H. Simpson. Nancy would have been born about 1814 or 1816 in Pennsylvania. Some possible maiden names could be Wheeler, Linton, or Thomas. Would you please check your tree to see if you have a Nancy who married a Simpson? Sincerely, Carole Clarke --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Notations from transcribed records in Ohio County, VA (now W VA) have that he is a shoemaker 'from Washington PA'. Although I can not find him on the 1850 or 1860 census, he is known to have been in or near Wheeling, Ohio County, (W)VA in the late 1850s and early 1860s. He married Nancy C HARPER in 1853 in Ohio County VA. By the early 1860s, he and his family are in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Nancy died in August 1864, and by the end of the year, John had married Hester Ann 'Hettie' ROBB, daughter of William L ROBB, originally from Florence, Washington County, PA. By the mid 1870s, the family moved to Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA, and John worked for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. John and Hester are buried in Chartiers Cemetery. John Wilson ORR and Nancy C HARPER had three known surviving children: Sarah Elizabeth 'Lizzie' ORR, who married Charles Christian SHULTZ in 1881 and moved to Pueblo, Colorado; Mary Catherine ORR, who did not marry and went to live with her sister in Pueblo after the death of her stepmother Hester in 1916; and Alonzo Loring ORR, who married Eliza A FITTON in 1885, had two known children Bessie May and John/Jack W ORR. John's obit does not mention other family members with the exception of his wife, daughter Mary C, and a daughter living in Colorado (Lizzie). However, son Alonzo appears on the 1910 San Francisco County CA census. John Wilson ORR had an older sister, Elizabeth, born 1825. In 1850, she is listed on the census as living in Allegheny City, Allegheny County, PA, and would marry David LITTLE of Wilkinsburg later that year. Cemetery records for Elizabeth note that she was born in Washington Co, PA. Would anyone have John Wilson or Elizabeth ORR in their notes or family lines? The congregation of the Trinity U. P. Church, McDonald, honored its pastor, the Rev. Edward R. DELAIR, on May 15, which marked the 25th anniversary of his installation as minister of the church. The days' festivities began with the morning worship service, which was shared by the Rev. Mr. DELAIR and His son, Edward R. DELAIR, Jr., a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. A special choir, under the direction of Miss Marta PENBERTHY, with Eva STRIMEL as organist, sang four of Rev. DELAIR's favorite anthems. After the service and reception line, with Mrs. Vera GEMA attending to the guest book, some 250 church members and guests gathered in the fellowship hall for dinner. This was followed by a special program to honor the Rev. and Mrs. DELAIR. Dr. William LYTLE was master of ceremonies for the program. Martin PENBERTHY reminisced over the selection of Rev. DELAIR by the pulpit committee 25 years ago and the installation service held May 15, 1958, when Rev. DELAIR was installed as minister at Trinity.Several of Rev. DELAIR's favorite hymns were sung, led by Mrs. Dorothy PENBERTHY. A number of church members remarked about personal experiences during Rev. DELAIR's 25 years of service. A memory book and a monetary gift were presented to the Rev. and Mrs. DELAIR by Mrs. Joy PENDERVILLE. The program concluded with benediction by the Rev. Robert CALDWELL.
